Amazon competing with YouTube

Amazon is starting talks with multi channel networks in order to obtain short form content. It's basically the start of Amazon's plan to take on YouTube. Most industry insiders view Amazon as the only company with enough infrastructure to compete with YouTube. Will you start offering content on Amazon when the program debuts?

Wow that is crazy.. I mean they are already taking on Netflix.. and in some ways have scooped them. For Instance Walking Dead season 4 is alrady available on Amazon, yet Netflix you can only get Season 3. The question is would you be able to have your stuff on Youtube and Amazon at the same time or are you going to have to sign some kind of agreement?

If you're after money, there has to be some kind of exclusivity period. So you would upload to Amazon 2-4 weeks before you upload to YouTube. BlipTV already has a similar deal in place with some YouTube channels.

So my understanding of this is, that it won't be a mass video sharing site but more like blip were the content creators are invited and are paid both for the videos and to not upload to any other site for a period of time?

But how to MCNs come into all this, are they just to bridge the gap between Amazon and the Talent?

Content would be offered via Amazon instant video. There would probably be tiers, so some content would be behind a paywall, while others would be free. No one will be able to give you any more details than this without breaking NDA.
