A post got me!

its great that you have high goals it gives you something to strive to, as long as you don't get frustrated and quit. Then it'll never happen.

What I want: I want to reach 500,000 subscribers, I want to have 100,000 views per video, I want to have 1,000 comments per video. I wan to have 2,500 likes per video. (Prepare to fail miserably if this is your goal from the get go. You will look at the numbers, will end up feeling resentment because you are not gaining enough of said numbers and that will bleed into your content).

How will I do this? Upload consistently, have good quality, be entertaining, get good equipment, lighting, graphics, get a gaming set up. (Every hopeful is doing the exact same thing you are. Don't for a second think acquiring or doing all those things will entitle you to subscribers and views).

What can I do to meet this goal?
- Edit (Yes, edit... watch, edit some more, watch again and cut cut cut till you can not cut anymore).
- Upload 1 video every day (nope... this will annoy people rather than keep them a subscriber, in addition it puts a strain on your creative process and undoubtedly result in mediocre content because you feel forced to upload once a day)
- Have consistany (true, as in once a week or so).
- SHOW I am interested. (By doing YouTube you succeed at this already)
- Show that I CAN do this and I don't care who tries to stop me. (Same as previous point, no need to spell that out or even mention it in a YouTube video).
- Get equipment. (Without a good camera setup it's hard to create the quality you want. Just remember that good cameras do not equal good content. It's what you shoot with said cameras that will make content stand out)
- Get lighting. (depends on how well your room is lit. But valid).

I will not quit, never give up, and someday you will succeed!
You have to have a dual perspective, a conflicting and contradictory one, of what you said above in addition to "If it all goes nowhere and I fail miserably I will still be happy and do other things with my life."

It's a bit annoying actually for people who need dreams to amp them up, because they have to make sure they don't burn their wings near the sun and all that jazz.

I'm content with a more laid-back perspective of "Whatevs, I'll do this is a hobby as long as it continues feeling like a hobby." I'm actually making a chunk of money recently, and even now my perspective hasn't changed, so I think I'm buckled in to keep that perspective for a long time into the future.

If it ever becomes a hassle then something must be wrong, yeah sometimes things get in your way but, if it ever becomes a hassle I will have to at least re-think it.[DOUBLEPOST=1453733872,1453726713][/DOUBLEPOST]

Why do youtube if you just believe you will fail 24-7, believe. Don't just say you will fail :( It's not good for YouTubing

It's nice to have goals, I'm sure we all have goals with doing YouTube whether its becoming YouTube famous or just uploading a video every now and again. You're going to have some good days (views, videos, dislikes, etc.) and some bad days (views, videos, dislikes, etc.), but when the going gets tough don't give up :)

Those are really big and precise goals, and I highly doubt you'll reach them specifically. Honestly, if you're doing YouTube for the fame, just stop. Personally, my goal is to entertain Hoomans while brainwashing them in preparation for cats taking over the world.

the only nice post i've seen, thanks :) You can make your goals too :)

Everything is right in this thread. Except that I won't be uploading every single day because that will be stressful and quality may reduce. I am happy that I am consistent and I upload every third day :)
