I get great complements & ratios, but LOW views

here's a new saying in marketing "SEO is dead".

This is not true at all. A certain type of SEO, where you overwhelm search engine results with lots of stock phrases, is dead, but tags and good descriptions and correct, engaging titles isn't dead at all. The #1 way most people find content anywhere is still via search, but you seem to have that figured out.

Thumbnails - Mine speak for themselves. Just look. They get so good, I'm sure the problem is - People aren't seeing the thumbnail, because youtube doesn't give me much visibility.

Your thumbnails are fine, but do they stand out? I mean...you seem to think this is a conspiracy by YouTube, rather than seeking ways of improving, because you seem to believe every aspect of your channel is perfect the way it is. If that's the point of your post, that's cool. It's okay to rant once in awhile, but if you truly think that your videos are so fantastic, your marketing is so incredible, and your content is easily findable through what you're doing and YouTube is keeping you down, then why keep at it? Isn't it a losing battle from the beginning?

Viewcounts and feedback are loosely proportional. You can have AMAZING videos, but if you dont put them out there on social media or optimize search on these videos, they will stay a diamond in the ruff so to speak. Doesn't matter if your videos are 10/10, if nobody can find it.[DOUBLEPOST=1450278474,1450278338][/DOUBLEPOST]

From seeing this among other great misconceptions of SEO im starting to believe many people are getting preconceived notions that SEO is worthless.

I've just mentioned this on another message board but how is your networking going? Are you watching peoples content and interacting much?

Nice channel man, I was going to say do you try and get the views? Or upload videos and hope they'll come?
I visit your channel, It really surprising that 54,979 no of subscriber. But How to achieve this?[DOUBLEPOST=1450281844,1450281755][/DOUBLEPOST]Nice channel and good content there.

OK, that may be weak: 30% (tho, my videos are on the long side: average of 7 minutes).
Judging by what we know about the YT algorithm, you need to increase your retention to rank high in search or appear in suggested videos.

For some reason, many people leave in the first 8 seconds. Is this typical??, because I see no reason my videos are to blame.
Either you're attracting the wrong people who are looking for something else, or your videos aren't as good as you think they are.

"I've seen both." - I'll believe it when you show me.
 On a large scale, Danisnotonfire's last 3 videos have >1 million views and 10% likes. On a small scale, my own channel (check Socialblade if you must.)
As for more comments than views, that happens every time in the beginning when the loyal subs are watching and commenting and you reply by using the comments page instead of the watch page.

That's your issue right there. If you don't have high retention Youtube will not suggest your videos to other people. Having a massive drop off at the start is a good indicator that people don't want to watch your content after clicking on it, for some reason. You need to give people a solid reason to keep watching from the very beginning.

Another thing, you're bragging about having a high Like ratio, but I'm just not seeing it. I clicked 3 videos and not only do you have a low amount of likes, even for the views, but you have a *very* high ratio of dislikes on every video I've seen. This will also hurt your ranking a lot compared to someone who has less dislikes. Also, there are plenty of Youtubers who achieve over 10% Like/view ratio, so you blindly denying that is pretty inane, honestly.

Bottom line is, your content isn't as good as you think it is. You need to spend some time seriously being self-critical and self-reflective. I personally found your videos to be meandering and borderline unwatchable. Sorry if that seems harsh but that's what I felt watching it.

Also your thumbnails look like they were made in MSPaint.

Even though this isn't in the "reviews & channel feedback" section, I think it should be. With that said, I'm going to leave my two cents.

I am a new YouTuber that started my channel mid October, so I am not claiming to be some YT know-it-all. However, I am a researcher and fast learner. A sponge for YT info if you will. My comments below are just my opinion and only offered to possibly help you grow your channel.

I see a few things wrong with your approach. Mainly #1

I get great Thumbs-up-to-views ratios (10%!!!!! You won't see that anywhere but my channel)

I get a good comments-to-views ratio (I have a recent video with MORE comments than views! Ever see that before?)

Some of the best complements I see on Youtube are on MY videos.

And don't say "your niche is too obscure"(vegan with a little conspiracy/political talk. They DO go together). A person in my niche just reached 100 million views. Some vegan videos reach 100,000 to 1 mil

Keep in mind, It's easy to find faults, but I can find faults with popular channels. Trust me, in my community, my videos are great.

1. The biggest one that stands out to me is your attitude towards YouTube in general. As seen above in your quotes, you come across as an all knowing YouTuber that makes no mistakes, does everything right, then asks where are my damn views. You insist what you are doing is perfect, yet not seeing results. So there are obviously some flaws in your game that need to be found and worked on a bit. It's the nature of the beast.

This type of attitude won't get you far. If you are really in it to "make it big", you should always be trying to new ways to promote your self, try new video ideas, new editing style, tweak SEO, create giveaways, ANYTHING! I am not saying you aren't doing any of these things, you may be doing all of them. But, when I look at your channel, I don't see these amazing thumbnails you speak of, and perfect SEO you have done. I see flaws right away.

2. Your banner image is bad. It's not inviting, it doesn't give the viewer any idea of what your channel is about or what they can expect from watching your videos. It's also not mobile optimized and looks bad on these devices.

3. Channel logo is blurry and pixelated. I like the shot you were trying to go for and it works. You just need a more clear photo to use.

4. Thumbnails
Thumbnails - Mine speak for themselves. Just look. They get so good, I'm sure the problem is - People aren't seeing the thumbnail, because youtube doesn't give me much visibility.
I'm going to disagree with you 100% on this. I looked at your thumbnails and most don't stand out to me. There is also no "branding" involved in any of your video thumbnails. None of your thumbnails make me WANT to click them.

5. Branding - There is no correlation between the vegan channel theme you are going for and your logo, banner or thumbnails. You need to create content that stands out, titles, thumbnails, CTA's, etc. Create that "branding" so viewers can distinguish your content from the rest.

6. You say you have done SEO and it doesn't work? I wholeheartedly disagree. I am a web developer/ internet marketer and SEO is key. Google algorithms aren't in place just for sh*#s & giggles. You obviously made some mistakes with your SEO and you should continue tweaking your content to reflect these ups and downs you're seeing.

7. My girlfriend is extremely health conscious and subscribes to many health blogs and vegan channels. Upon seeing some of your videos, especially the "Where's FREELEE? the Banana Girl disappeared from the net", she was not only confused by your content and end goal of the videos/channel, but said you come off a little creepy in your videos ;)

Again, these are just my opinions and thoughts on where I see faults and why your channel isn't getting views. Take it for what it's worth and maybe some will sink in.

Good luck! :)

and your content is easily findable ......
No, they're very hard to find. Page 1 of searches for (vegan, health, etc) are the channels that are most popular. I might be on page 4.

"Then why keep at it? Isn't it a losing battle from the beginning?"
It seems so. And yes, I'm saying I don't want more help making my channel better. I've already made it better than most. I'm looking for something different that'll help, where nothing has before.

...SEO is key

most sense ive heard in the thread yet.

you have a *very* high ratio of dislikes on every video I've seen. I personally found your videos to be meandering and borderline unwatchable.
My ave. dislike is 3 or 4! Every vegan has trolls. You're not familier with my community, which is also why you find it near
unwatchable. I get great complements (I save them):

lol good vid man
"great video"
"Epic"
"...this is one of the best videos I've ever watched on YouTube. Thanks! "

"don't understand why you don't have more views. you're just a legend man!!!?

"OMG man, u need thousands of views!!!! :)?

"Wow. That was a really moving video. I find you so relaxing to watch. You speak the truth and you are a genuine,
kind person
------------------
"unwatchable" - exactly how? My speech pattern? (you should compare me with the top performing veg channels: Durianrider, Freelee. Many in my com think "FullyRaw" is unwatchable. Yet she's near the top with 60k)

PS - they all took years to make it. But they were never as low as I am.
