YouTube's search algorithm being a bit weird?

WolfWraith

I Love YTtalk
So I just did a search of "Cubique Noire" which is a game I did in 1 of my videos. Now I'm not entirely sure how to feel but when I searched this, my video is #1 but there's only 177 results, in the first page it's showing me 3 more of my videos, 2 are in the same playlist and 1 not even in a playlist at all. More and more as I go I'm getting more and more confused with YouTube's algorithms for searches.

So does this mean from now on videos that get searched will display other videos from the playlist in the search? I don't want people searching things up and getting other irelevant videos because they could assume I'm tagging it wrong or something.

I think their updated algorithms have established that you (as a high ranking video creator in that search field) are an authority on the subject - and as such, viewers may want to see more of your videos.

Okay, as long as it's not misleading then. That's a weird way to do it though. I can see the benefits but that also means bigger youtubers could have their irelevant videos displayed above relevant 1s, wouldn't it? In a way it's kind of unfair. I'm not sure how I'd feel if someone else was getting ranked down because of my other videos popping up.

I think it comes more from the fact that it's a slim searched field. You said yourself it only brought up about 177 results. YT makes money off people hanging around and watching more videos. So if it can hook viewers into spending more time on the site - even if it means showing videos that may be off topic (but created by the same person) then it'll fill in those results.

True, I didn't think of it like. I guess people could easily ignore them and click on the other pages too lol

I'm interested in this Cubique Noire. Sounds interesting. Oh, what was the rest of your post about again? :p
