YouTube Vs. Personal Life

The only person who knew when I originally started was my boyfriend because I lived with him. Once I gained a couple hundred subs, I told my immediate family (Mom, Brother, Sister). Once I was in the couple of thousands, I told only a handful of my close friends. Besides that, no one else knows. I don't post my videos to any of my personal social accounts. I would rather keep my YT life and my real life separate to people who don't know me well. I'd rather not be judged possibly by friends and coworkers who don't really understand why I do my channel & also who don't know I'm not actually AS crazy as I am in my videos in real life. :-P

Yeah this is exactly how I feel about it. I think I create the content with anonymity in mind. Also the thumbnail for your video in the siggy looks cute and I love games so I'm off to check out your channel now! :-)

I'm at that early stage on my channel where it's all a bit new, I'm not sure if I'm keen to show off what I've produced and I'm keeping it relatively quiet from my family.

A couple of my best friends have subbed but I've kept myself from posting my stuff on Facebook yet. I'll only consider that if I get a few more subs and I have something to shout about.

A lot of my friends and family know, but they haven't really watched since my first videos.

If someone brings it up, I'll hand over a business card of my show. Most of the time, I keep it to myself.

I personally try to avoid letting people know I work on YouTube. Basically it always turns into a awkward conversation. " Hey I saw your video! Do you really act like that?" "Nah, I mean who would get crazy like THAT for a video game?!" And of course thats how I really act, so its just overly awkward. Or you get the friend who is SUPER SUPPORTIVE and watchs everything, so you feel its okay to talk about a video and it turns out they havent watched anything in months, another awkward situation. Neither one goes well for me...

My mother is my biggest fan !

Mine too. She texts me every Thursday asking when the video will be live :)
I've never really had a problem telling people about my channel - most of my videos are pretty tame observations of general subjects. I did have to tell my mom to not watch D*ck in Crazy the week I released it. Months later, curiosity got the better of her and she finally watched (and thought it was funny!).
I'm proud of the stuff I put on my channel and maybe it's because I'm a performer anyway - I'm happy to share what I create.

Well , for my mother it's the only way to hear my voice besides phone/skype . Being busy at work and stuff I can't go home and visit . So if she sees a new video , she knows I'm alive rofl .
But yeah , at home everyone knows I do Youtube . My housemates know ( because I "yell" at them everytime they interrupt me during recording . ) , my friends know etc etc . I mean , if I wanted to hide it from people , I wouldn't do that .

D*ck in Crazy is amazing =D . Me and my friends loved it .
My housemate was singing it while doing chores quite some time ago .
"What are you singing Jenn ? " and she was like "D*ck in Crazy ."
Awesome !

I kinda... don't really care what people think about my videos. I announce them on my facebook where everybody on my channel can see, including friends, family and co-workers. The friends are alright since most of them are on my videos. Family doesn't really seem to care, though I get the random 'so-and-so liked this'. As for co-workers, some don't care or end up on my videos as well.

Yes, I know how you feel. I Dont mind sharing my youtube videos to family and my closest friends but other people that I Know personally it kind of feels awkward but if they do eventually see it, I guess they see it and I Cant do anything about it, I could stop making videos but It would ruin something that i do as a hobby and enjoy.
