YouTube video trends

Hey everyone, ive noticed there are sort of trends on youtube for videos. For example, the harlem shake. Im just wondering what your thoughts are on making videos on these trends, because they will get lots of views since it is popular, but as it dies out the views will just stop, compared to a video with a topic that will always be intresting.

On my channel, i make a video called the patience test. Ive seen it around but i feel like its going to be the next big thing! Give it a look and tell me if you agree, also a comment or something would really boost up my viewers. I recently had 2000 subscribers but had to restart because of adsense, now im only on 400 :(

Youtube is so unpredictable, you don't know what is going to be the next big thing, Something might be the next big thing, but nobody knows

I love how Youtube is so unpredictable. One of the worst trends that I am seeing right now is the Knife Game Song. If you haven't heard of it (but I'm sure you may have) it's where you take a knife, and you sing the song placing the knife in between your fingers trying not to stab yourself. I've seen people stab their hands doing trying to attempt doing this. I don't see why it's such a trend.

What? What kind of craziness is this? I guarantee you won't see any knife play on my channel(s). Not that I'm gonna be a hand model anytime soon but I'd prefer to keep me digits. Lol. I hope that doesn't become too big a trend with the teens and youngsters though. Just too dangerous!

Haha yeah i think its stupid! But the craze has already started to die down, its had its time and i think people are stopping it now thankgod!

Some channels make their entire YouTube career on trending stuff. If you're a gamer and you see a trend like Harlem Shake for example, whatever game you're big for or known for playing is a good avenue to make a parody within the game of the Harlem Shake and get a ton of views. That's a way to capitalize on trends without completely selling out.

I absolutely refuse to trend hop though. In my opinion, trend hoppers are the carrion buzzards of YouTube.
