I definitely do not want to pay for content that I subscribe to. It would ruin the point of YouTube.

It's for major syndicated networks, not YouTubers. You'll never see this kind of thing on a place like Machinima. The production value isn't worth paying for.

Now, as the OP mentioned if a company like HBO offered a subscriber only channel that cost $15 or $30 a month, whatever the price ended up being. Of course people will subscribe. And it would be a great service.

YouTube is trying to court major media, not little guys and even something the size of Maker Studios is still a baby fish compared to Time Warner, HBO, etc.

it will never happen, lets face it, nobody is actually going to pay to subscribe, also some channels upload full movies and stuff and if you have to pay to sub them that means youtube is making money off of copyrighted content and they could get sued for it
