So I was wonder about the description on your about part is it important?
do you need to put certain things in it or can it just be anything?
does it contribute to anything in anyway?

Critically important. Your about page gets spidered by Youtube and Google. As others have written, take your time to write up a good channel description using many keywords (tags). Do the same for all of your playlists. So many Youtubers fail to realize the importance of taking time to do this. In time, it will greatly help grow your channel.
