Your Thoughts on YouTube Rewind 2018?

1.5 vs 4.2m downvotes as of today. Gosh. This video keeps popping up in the beta youtube creator so would not normally have been something I'd notice. I tried but I found it hard to watch. I'm not sure it represents Youtube for me. Seems like an abundance of annoyingly happy smiling artsy youthful trend following peoples. 2019 rewind for me as a viewer more likely battling through a torrent a trash autogenerated voiceovers and copied uploaded media which thankfully Youtube are responding to strongly now. Of course lots of cool stuff to be found too. It's too easy to focus on the stuff we don't like.

I watched it, I’m indifferent to it.
I guess the main takeaway is that Wil Smith loves him some fortnight.
I wonder why They didn’t mention when YouTube was down for a few hours back in October.

Seems ripe for parody.
 
I don't care, I've never watched it because it's full of "trending" garbage that I didn't watch all year and have no interest in.

I think you're right on it being "trending" garbage, as in the type of stuff that YT puts on the trending page. Definitely not a representation of what's actually trending on the internet, I think

It's funny because I actually wrote my comment about YouTube being very politically correct and cliquey before even watching the "Youtube Rewind 2018" video. But yeah, the women empowerment theme is a prime example and doesn't surprise me. I guess my original comment shows there is some truth in it. ^^
 
We tend to think in terms of politics.

Here is another view: it is like pageant.
Happy shiny some diversity and...

Mood set to happy.
Standards set high.

Why people dislike?
Here is a probable cause,
because the video was pushed kind of arrogant
"for you"
"You asked for this"

"Give people what they wanted"
Well, they missed it on this one.
I write it often.
It was supposed to be you-tube not
This is what you want tube...
Or This is what you have to do tube.

You may tell anybody almost anything while on a sale.
But you never, ever, ever say to him this is what he wants
Especially when you offer a free product as an 8 min video!

PS the video was really good. The "message" sucked.

I wonder how the algorithm deals with this one...

Personally, I think it was better than last years, not just for the fact that they got rid of some certain YouTubers, but they added in a variety. You see Korean YouTubers featured pretty prominently, and they used comments of what people wanted in Rewind.

There is just still something about YouTube Rewind that just always makes me not quite satisfied with what I just watched.

Disliked it, it’s so bad I’m gonna do two videos about it..

To much political correctness and pushing their own agenda..

I wouldn’t watch it anyway probably for the same reason the 2.5 million people disliked it. No one wants to see someone else parading around rubbing it in about how great and lucky they are (and by reasoning you therefore are not)
