Your microphone settings?

Sa basicly, I am pretty new at youtube and I find the voice recording quiet difficult.
So my question is, what programs are you using? And what about the settings?
And what settings would you think, that I should use with a blue Yeti?

Thx :)

I dont really use a specific program - I use Fraps and record from there really. My microphone volume and all of that is the same, I would just generally speak louder or put the microphone nearer my mouth if I am a little quiet.

I use a program called DxTory, Its probably the most used recording software in the youtube industry, Followed by fraps. I have my settings set to 720p6ps and it records my microphone and game sound into separate tracks. Which in sony vegas I can adjust the audio levels, I then reduce the loudness of the game sound so I can be heard. I use the mic just below the Blue Yeti, The Blue Snowball is my microphone. Any other questions I would be happy to answer :)

If you're on a mac I'd recommend Audacity. Microphone input volume at 0.19 and the gain on the blue yeti itself around 8'oclock. Goodluck! =]

The settings bit that others use won't be of much use. You will have a different proximity to the mic, room setup, other hardware.

Set your recording to everything at "12", meaning 50% volume. This includes the dial on the Yeti, the recording input volume in Windows and any other volume modifier such as Skype/Ventrilo/etc. Then open up your recording software (Audacity), and start to record. Begin to bump up each volume slider fairly evenly until your volume being recorded in Audacity is just below clipping. Essentially you want the highest recorded volume you can get without any clipping occurring. This will give you the best signal to edit with later.
