Writer's Block

Hey guys!

So with everyone producing so much content, I'm sure we must all have our own techniques for overcoming writer's block. Whether you keep to a strict schedule, or just know you have to get a video done, I'm curious as to what people's tactics are?

Here's my list - but I need to built up more tactics:
  • Freewriting
  • Procrastinating for an hour
  • Taking a shower
  • Going for a walk
  • Forcing myself to write a crappy script, and then discarding it
What works for you guys?

For me, when I'm writing (not for YT but generally), this helps:

- Getting off the internet, as it's too much of a distraction
- Reading a book, watching a movie, etc
- Going to a museum/old building/visually appealing spot outdoors
- Listening to certain types of music depending on what I'm trying to write

I also imagine up scenarios in my head and mentally 'act' them out like a movie. Sometimes visualising a scene purely in images will help a scene come out, and then you can write it down after.

Hi!

My techniques for writers block (as a blogger) are to work on future projects. Think outside of my "yard" for a little bit and look at other peoples work. Just me though :).

I don't have any tactics for YouTube, I just do it....
But for just regular writing , this helps for me :
-Playing a song
-Watching Movie/Anime
-Brainstorm about anything
-Go running.

How do you "just do it" though? I mean, if you don't know what you're going to talk about, don't you run the risk that the video won't be usable?

Well if it's a regular video , like a "let's play" then I just narrate it and do it.
But if it's a Pokemon Battle, then I usually just view the battle over a few times, think of what I will say , and sometimes write it down. And when I'm narrating , I look at what I'm going to say.
