I was thinking about making a website using wordpress. Has anyone had any experience with it or have any pointers before I go on this learning journey? Thanks in advance :)

Watch the videos on youtube they will help soooooooo much. But after i watched the i found it pretty easy to manage

Best advice I can give you is use a cheap hosting service and go with wordpress dot org right now instead of starting with the free wordpress dot com. You'll learn more and have access to more and won't have to transfer it later.

Wordpress is relatively user friendly. You can embed videos and add images pretty easy. It's a lot better than blogger. I don't have a site on either right now, but I had one on each not too long ago, but I don't think much has changed since then.

Ok cool I'll look into that, thanks a lot!

Awesome, thanks!

I use Wordpress and it's really simple to use. You can do alot of fun things with some Wordpress plugins and you can make the site really like you want it.

best advice! if someone told me this before i started a wordpress.com site i would have went with self hosted right away! I had big problems transfering content from my old site to my hosted one. Maybe i was a noob back then but getting all the features is worth it imo.

I have it on my website. It's pretty awesome. Someone else set it up, though, so unless you need advice on how to log in, I can't help you.

I would go with godaddy for simple, cheap hosting man. I use their top of the line service. They have amazing customer service and will literally walk you through stuff on the phone when you have issues. You can find a link to my wordpress site through my profile. I don't want to advertise it in the thread but that's an example of what wordpress can look like. I had no experience before I made that site. Taught myself. Now it's super easy to use on a daily basis.
The best thing about wordpress compared to other blogger types is that you can make wordpress look like it's NOT a blog.
