Will the comments ever come back?

I'm starting to get sick and tired of my videos saying '5 comments' and yet you can only see two of them. Are they even working on fixing this? Will we ever get these lost comments back?
 
Yeah, but is Youtube doing anything about this? Any comments or reports on them trying to fix the broken comment system? Some of us smaller channels only get 1-3 comments per video... we'd like to be able to see them.
 
The comment system isn't broken. The reason you can't see them is because the person who posted the comment hasn't given you permission to see them (usually you need to be added to their circles), so the comment can only be viewed by those in the circle of the person who posted. Not everyone that posts comments on youtube wants the world to see what they posted-and the system is set up for them to restrict who can see the comments.
 
Then why do we see 10 comments today and then 3 the next? Did those 8 people suddenly decide they didn't want you to see their comments anymore? The people that posted the comments themselves don't even know what happened to what they posted. How bout the comments I post? I'm not in my own circle?

Well that doesn't make sense. I've had people asking me grammar questions via comments and waiting on a reply. When I come to reply, the comment has disappeared and when I replied to them via PM, like @MarkRodriguez2012 said, they had no idea I couldn't see their comment and they had no wish for it to be hidden. They just wrote their comment. If it was some sort of privacy issue, then the comment would never have been visible. What is happening here is that comments are there for a few days and then just disappear for no reason.

There have been numerous reports and threads about this issue. @CatsRants for example had left comments on @Jamiet88 channel with no restrictions and he replied and everything was cool and then all of a sudden, about a week later those comments disappeared without any intervention from either party. That's just one example / thread. There have been many more. That's a bug.

I have two channels and have tested it writing comments from one channel to another (with no privacy restrictions) and same issue.

I had the disappearing comment issue before the changeover to Google+ and for about 2 weeks after the change. I haven't had anything like that happen since then, but we're usually on some sort of beta testing program all the time, so our stuff is usually on different servers.

Do the comments come back? Any of ours that disappeared in the past reappeared within a few hours.

As of yet, none of the comments have come back and it's really frustrating for us smaller channels who need all the comments we can get lol.

I totally understand the G+ circles thing whereby the commenter can select public or a particular circle. I understand the feature and it makes sense. But that doesn't seem to be what's happening here. It's comments posted to "public", being visible to everyone for a few days and then disappearing (along with any replies)

Something weird that I noticed during my tests: I went back to my channel's gmail notification of a comment that had since disappeared. If I followed the "reply to this comment in YT" link in the email, it would go to the video and a sort of greyed out comment would be there with a little "linked comment" graphic next to it. So the comment is still in the database but not visible to anyone. But when you break out of that weird link from the email notification, the comment can't be seen at all.

If they need a specific test case to analyse, feel free to tell them to inbox me. I can even provide them with a test case with the comment id and notification email of a comment that recently disappeared to help them trace it.
 
Yeah because the main issue is... what the hell is Youtube gonna do about it... or when exactly do they plan to even start doing something about it?
