Why YouTube?

I've Got It
YouTube has a bunch of nonsense that nobody likes. All these channel design changes, layout changes, navigation changes, etc. You have to pay to watch movies on YouTube (unless you do some hardcore searching around), and it doesn't feel like a community since so many people use it. I stay with YouTube because I've already come so far with my channel, but...

Why do you stay with YouTube?

I have nowhere else to go. Tried bliptv, they denied me. I don't know where else to turn. BELIEVE ME, if there was a more ethical video sharing site that was growing in popularity at a fast rate, I'd go there in a heart beat.
i agree man i really do because youtube is just to hard for some man but it is what it is as of now

There is no decent alternative that I am aware of. I felt the same way several months ago when they changed the layouts and forced everyone to switch in March of 2012, I think it was. The majority did not want it. I know it hurt a lot of channels (including mine) in terms of views.

So, you take it on the chin and move on. At the end of the day it is a free service, I just hope for their sake they dont forget about myspace the same way the rest of the world already has.

Good point! I'm sure something else will come along and replace it; there's always a 'next big thing' just around the corner. I think familiarity is what people keep coming back for. And There is a sense of community if you can find a good group of people, like these people here for example. Although youtube might be full of nonsense and trolls and money-drama and all sorts, there's still lots of positive things about it. Just look at the top youtubers out there today. All of them were just drops in an ocean when they started, but loved what they did enough to stick with it until they made it.

I'd say youtube is what you make it, as long as you belong to a network of good people. :)

Considering that YouTube only got big because it uploaded copyrighted content, and now in many ways it has exclusive rights to that content, not to mention the fact that it's backed by Google, I highly doubt that it's going anywhere. That's just not likely to happen. All we can do is continue to make niches like YTTalk, so we have our own sense of community.

Don't get me wrong, I love the people I interact with on YouTube :)

But SURELY, SURELY, some huge company out there is smart enough to realize that youtube has let down SO MANY OF US, who are DYING for a new site with more attention to the small time uploaders. I mean... it's capitalism man, when one company leaves a need, another one ALWAYS comes along to meet that need, it's just BOUND to happen! I think so anyway.

True, but keep in mind that capitalism caters towards the consumers, not the producers. The consumers are the advertisers, and by proxy the viewers. The content creators and YouTube itself are the producers, as we are the ones selling something, so it's our job to meet these demands by whatever means necessary. If we don't, there's a thousand others willing to take our place in a heartbeat. We aren't the demand, we fulfill the demand! :help:

Applauds.
