Why do youtubers ask to get followed on instagram?

My wife has a youtube channel that is linked to her instagram because she makes clay creations. That way people can see some of her creations that may not be included in her clay update. Also she shows some creations at various levels of completion.
 
Well just like people like having followers on twitter and friends on facebook, people want others to follow them on instagram. It could be helpful to gain subscribers (probably not).
 
well i dont have a instagram account so "youtubers", not so much, just a select few you know of.
 
In my case, sometimes I may just share pictures of some toy cars. YouTube is for providing contextual content with a story. Sometimes, A picture is enough to connect with the community. Plus, it's free content.
 
Instagram isn't my favorite, but it's another source of social media, just like Facebook or Twitter that is fairly popular. I think it would be great for artists or photographers who take lots of pictures, otherwise I'd just use Twitter or Facebook myself.
