Why channel reviews will save your channel!

I think channel reviews are one of the most overlooked tools on this website and i am not quite sure why. So i would like to tell you how a channel review saved my channel and how doing reviews have significantly improved my channel.

A year ago i decided that i am going to start taking my youtube channel more seriously. I bought another camera, worked on my editing, and started to spend a lot more time on YT watching others videos and tutorials on channel improvement. Slowly but surely i started to build a good library and my channel was getting better by the day. But as my videos got better, my channel growth remained dismal. Eventually one of my videos took off and the traffic came in, my subs were coming in 50-100 per day and all my videos started to gain traction.
(key takeaway..build a solid library, so when one of your video gets big the new incoming viewers have some other videos to watch)
So after the influx i decided to pay to have a channel consultation from Tim. We talked for about an hour, he looked through my channel and gave me some tips/advice and he helped answer any questions that i had. The insight and advice that i got from talking to another youtuber instantly provided to me what i needed to get my channel from a C- to a solid B. Just having someone to talk to and walk through my channel, i noticed i was noticing i was catching a lot of my own mistakes.
(key take away--Talk to someone about your channel, like actually pick up a phone and talk to them. Explain your channel goals, your methodology, ask questions, ask for their opinions)

Shortly after that i decided to take a look at his channel. I figured he was the guru, lets see if i could find anything that might help him. While doing this i found quite a few things that i thought he could improve upon and i also started to find myself saying "i like the way he does this, maybe i should incorporating this). After reviewing his channel (note-this was just for fun, i didn't actually send him any feedback or anything) the things i picked up upgraded my channel from a B to an A.
(key takeaway--Review well established channels, see what they are doing right and try and see if you can find any areas that could be improved upon).

Lastly, after my channel consultation everyone started to ask me about it. Then they asked if i would review their channels. So i started to review some of my friends channels and it was funny to see them making the same mistakes that i had made when i first started. It was also interesting to see how the new users had put their channel together. When asked some simple questions about their goals, most of them didn't have an answer. But after our conversation, they had a good idea of where they wanted to go. It was surprising how much i got out of reviewing other peoples channels. They would say, "how come you say i should make thumbnails like this, but yours aren't like that" then i would realize i have not been doing some things that i know i should be doing. They would ask me to explain things like a youtube tool (such as analytics) and i would realize i have completely forgotten about how useful that tool is and i haven't been using it. Reviewing other channels has seriously upped my channel even higher.
(key takeaway--Learn while you teach..and maybe down the road they will return the favor).

So after my experiences with consultation/reviews, i grew my channel from 100 subs - 1100 in just a month or two and i believe i will get to 5k well before xmas. My channel goals have become a lot clearer and i believe i'm finally on the right path.

So that's my story, sorry for the novel. I hope that the review thread grows bigger and better. I'm not a fan of the quick responses and i feel like most people swing by your channel and check out all your thumbnails and leave. If you are going to do review, really take some time and really go through their library, talk to them about their channel goals and what they are trying to accomplish. I'm sure they will return the favor.
If you would like me to review your channel send me a message and i hope that you will do the same for me.
