Why Are the Top Youtube Stars so Popular?

How are some channels not as big as others even though their content is so much similar? Well its not so simple and people have already listed many of those reasons. One of the biggest shining examples that have been left out are the tips and tricks that don't get spread around so often. Its stuff like botting, likefavsub giveaways, miscategorizing, misleading titles & thumnails, spamming, bumping, meta-tagging, irrelevant & spam tagging, emulating others success, plagiriazing, staging/faking videos.

The way Felix was getting so popular was due to his use of the Topic/Discussion function on YouTube I believe. I've also seen him spam tag and meta-tag back in the day as well. According to the Game Theorists one of the biggest reasons he got big was due to locational reasons. I am not sure if that helps so much although there are a lot of YouTubers who have moved here to L.A and it is said that it helps if you do. Felix also has a VERY large female audience and you have to admit he is the kind of guy young girls and women like to look at. So for him I think there was a big combination of things.

Guys like NigaHiga are what I call "classically" talented and what I mean by that is they actually have real talent as in they can sing, dance, act, perform, do comedy, write/record/produce music and so on. Felix is not an entertainer just an internet personality. I've mentioned this before in an earlier thread and I talked about how Bart Baker is one of those guys who wouldn't make it in the entertainment idustry without ghost writers to write and produce his jokes, music and other antics for him. He is a product and personality, not an entertainer.

I've learned in College that "Musical Artists" and "Musicians" are two different things. Artists usually have no musical ability that they can use on their own without someone to write, record and produce music for them. Musicians can perform, write and produce their own music. The way you can tell if someone is one of the two is by making both groups play/perform/sing without ANY electricity. They have to be able to perform to a certain extent raw. An "Artist" usually can do nothing more than sing, play a few chords and melodies and not be able to put(or perform) a piece of music together because they don't usally produce their own music without any electricity. A Musician will give you something they have written and produced themselves and can perform solo extensively without electricity usually across 3 to 6 instruments(or throat) if they are trained and have studied music (like me) in college.

So I think that difference in what YouTubers do on YouTube is big, kind of like how I described with people in Music. It seems to me that the people who are more popular are usually the more over-produced personalities with little to no "classical" talent. However that is what YouTube means doesn't it? Broadcasting yourself? I didn't understand how or why (and I still don't really understand) people get so sucked into other peoples lives and personalities until Jenna Marbles brought it up on Internet Icon. I didn't see what the big deal was with people wanting to know every detail about someone else' life. Even today I went and watched a Jenna Marbles video (one of her earliest ones) and I was thinking to myself "I don't want to hear someone else b***h and moan about their problems, this sh*t is popular? Why?" "I got my own life to live and my own problems, don't other people have that?" The way some people get bigger than others for particular content really baffles me. I can never pinpoint it. It just is. I don't have a problem or hatred for any Youtuber however. There are only maybe 4 or 5 YouTubers I dislike and I think everyone kind of has that.
