Where do your viewers come from?

Heya folks,

one aspect I love about YouTube is how as a channel you will get views from all over the world. I sometimes wonder things like: 'How did that one viewer from Tuvalu find me? That's awesome!' I'd be interested in knowing more about your viewers locations. Here is my top 10 analytics list:

United States - 32%
Germany - 14%
United Kingdom - 7.8%
Canada - 5.0%
Brazil - 3.3%
Australia 2.5%
Norway 2.4%
Sweden 2.2%
Netherlands 2.1%
Poland 2.1%

The English speaking countries are no surprise, of course. But why is Germany in second place, even though I don't make German videos? Is it perhaps because I live in Germany and YouTube shows Germans my videos despite them being in English? I also have no clue why Brazil is so high up on the list, but maybe that's just because they have a big population with internet access by now.

Yeah, some times it might happen that some foreign website links your content, making spikes in country specific views. I've for example had a video spontanously promoted on a french website. Another time I recieved an adorable message with broken grammar that a South Korean school class used my Minecraftified music video for their english language class. Something unpredictable has probably happened causing your views to reach specific viewers. Other than that, stats aren't too stable when dealing with view counts.

In the last 30 days, I've had 50.6k views, bit below my average, while demographics have been:
  • 48% USA
  • 7% UK
  • 6% South Korea
  • 5% Canada
  • 2% Australia
Mainly age 13-17 and 35-54 with a gender distribution of 69% male, 31% female.
 
My gaming and vlogging channels have a lot in common yet a lot different as well in terms of viewership location.

Top ones make sense, the last few seem strange!

The most interesting is that I had 1 viewer from St Lucia haha!
