When it comes to using tags?

This is probably a thread somewhere already but I'm just curious.

I never know the right amount when it comes to adding tags with uploading videos, I also never know what to really put in there besides obvious things. I heard that putting popular search tags there actually bumps your video down and less people are likely to see it. Any suggestions? Thank you :)

You are finished adding tags when you can't think of any more that suit the video. Adding more random ones usually doesn't improve anything.

Agreed, you wouldn't want to add tags that don't have to do with your video even if it is popular at the moment. I can see you use a lot of one-word tags in your latest vid. But people don't really search like that. Like if someone types in "girl" or "cool" think of how many videos will return in the search. Try a good combo of words as one tag. Your title is a good example. "random facts about me" or summarize a few of the facts mentioned in your video. :Blackalien2:

Only add tags that are relevant to your videos, you wouldn't wanna bring in the wrong kinds of people to your videos d:

I'm terrible at tags... I just try and fill it up with as many things relevant to the video as possible :P

use non-popular focus keywords and focus on these

Thank you all for your responses, you've really helped me reconsider how I should be working now compared to what I was doing before :)

The best tip is to have tags that are relevant to the topic of the video. Something like Pewdiepie would not work in a video that does not mention Pewdiepie for example.
