What's the Longest Editing Time You have Had?

My video I just rendered took me probably around 4 or 5 hours to edit... That's the longest I've ever spent, but I had hours of footage to sit through so a lot of the time was spent just watching footage. The video is going to be awesome, it should be up tomorrow morning!

Overall about 6h for the basic edit, 4h do refine it per the directors wishes and another 1 to 2 hours for minor revisions and fixes (not counting rendering time)
All for a 5m short

Edit: not counting time spent doing the audio

I usually spend between 6 and 10 hours editing a video, depending on how much footage I have to cut through and refine, and how much work needs done on the footage. Our Board Meeting video took around 9 hours, and Gone Driving took around 13 because there was over 2 hours of footage

My video that I just uploaded overnight took about 4 or 5 hours to edit (maybe more) because I had 4 days of skiing footage to sit through. It turned out really good and it actually looks really good after uploading to Youtube! Sometimes the quality is horrible, but this one looks amazing! I'll be adding it to my signature here shortly

I think for my Arkham Asylum review I must have spent like 3 hours each day for about 10 days editing that bugger out into a YT video lol

"Boyfriend does my makeup ep.1" was the longest. It took me about 3 days with almost every moment being spent on eating, sleeping or editing. I had to cut 2.5 hours down to 20 minutes, and most of it was conversation and funny moments... so I had to first trim out the useless stuff and then go back and kill my babies (as Tyler Oakley put it). Then I had to kill my babies about 5 more times before I could even think of adding music. Then came clipping in music and trying to get the music to make sense. So I had to watch, edit and rewatch it so many times. It's still not my best work, but it was also my first big project in 3 years... so... I was a bit rusty. I like to use music as an addition rather than a focal point, so I usually do it last. Sort of like adding sound effects; once you know where everything in the footage belongs, you can add effects accordingly. Doing the music last (or just before the final edits) helps me to (1) not have the distraction of music over the video and (2) to be able to find a track that fits the mood of the final cut as opposed to working the final cut around the mood of the song.

Then again, I tend to do more vlog type videos whereas you make compilations of footage put to music. It makes more sense for you to add the music first I love how we all have our own styles, though! We're all unique both in what we do and how we do it

I can see adding sound effects after, but certain types of videos it's easier to play the music and make cuts that kind of go with the music. I recently added a car crash sound to a video of some guy wrecking on his skis, I had to fine tune it to get the skid/metal crushing sounds to coordinate with the video.

Videos usually take me 5+ hours to edit but the longest I've spent editing a video was literally waking up in the morning all the way past midnight to falling asleep. It was my first time using a new video editor so I had to adjust to the steep learning curve. It was so worth it because it was one of the three videos on my channel that gave me my subscriber boom

On average though, 5-6+ hours to edit.
