Personally I do my audio editing in Adobe Audition, really good program for sound editing and recording personally. Treat it as an advanced audacity but not free
For stuff that isn't free, i like to use Protools or Logic Pro for my audio.
For general editing and recording i prefer Protools as it's pretty simple and
straight forward and if i want to use a massive bank of instrument effects i like to use Logic Pro.
