What happened when you started expanding your channel?

First thing's first: you won't please everyone. If someone unsubscribes due to a video they don't like, then meh. Their loss.

Secondly: test the waters. Do a 'new' video once a week or once a month and get people's opinions on it. Just slip it in there, don't make any big announcement that you're going to do it. I am sure people will enjoy it. Maybe that person who commented simply wanted you to sing, and was annoyed because you didn't.

I agree.. But maybe sometimes you can use your subs opinion.. But as long as you feel that you like the video and want to share it, then do it..

Expanding the channel are a good idea too, with a risk of course..
 
Well what I did was switch channels and start all over, made my channel open to all genres.

I think I've done alright. Nothing special has happened. No copyright strikes though, thank goodness =P
 
While my channel is mostly toy cars, I do branch out a bit into some other items. They are still relative because they tend to be boys toys. Sometimes, I get the dissenters who say "why am I doing this" and not Hot Wheels. Well, because it's my channel, RaceGrooves, not HotWheels.
 
I think that you should absolutely expand if you want to- maybe have a transitional period for a while where you post different videos sporadically with a view to eventually posting whatever videos you would like.

If this doesn't go down too well for whatever reason, and you're concerned about potentially losing some subscribers, why not stick with the videos currently on your channel, keep uploading the covers, and start a new channel where you can upload your other videos? Then you could keep linking to your new channel as well as uploading the covers on your present channel :)

i think im going to just stick with my current channel, starting another one doesn't sound appealing to me.
i'm just going to slowly expand it, starting with my own songs. a friend from school really wants to hear one that i wrote for an english project and sang in front of the class.

im going to check out all of your channels now :) you guys rock
 
I started off doing topic shows, just reviewing my favorite foods, boardgames, videogames etc... Then I moved onto vlogs on my day, then I started doing sketches...
Then I started covering local events and conventions and most recently I'm doing a series of interviews on cosplayers lol.

I can see dips and rises in the views based on what kind of content I do. My channel is small, but so far I've only lost 2 subs over the 4 months. I think as long as your personality is there, your audience will stick around to see what you are doing.
