What are your thoughts on supreme amounts of uploaded content?

So as we all know, there are HOURS upon HOURS of content getting uploaded every minute on YouTube. How does one seriously get their head up from out of the water when it comes to getting their channel known?

Does this thought discourage you as a creator? When I first started 2.5 years ago it was a lot easier to build a channel and get advertised. Now, not so much. I see that most videos on newer channels will hit about 100 views and that's that unless there is a lot of marketing on the channel/video or the video is part of a trending topic/viral trend.

What are your strategies on getting your content known and shared even with all of this hustle and bustle of content overload?

Would love to know your thoughts.

I make cover songs which is a good way to gain a following but it's also quite competitive (well which genre isn't? :P) but I'd consider myself a somewhat 'unique' type of channel because you don't see many (big) solo acoustic guitarists on YouTube so lucky me. :) So yeah, I focus on delivering good content and better my tags so that I'm able to rank high on pretty generic search terms.

I do notice that music always tends to do better, especially covers & parodies. You do have that advantage when it comes to content since you have so many songs to choose from.. you could even do a video a day (cover wise) if you so wanted. I see you also have "how to's," which is a biggie on YouTube.

When it comes to tags, do you have a strategy or do you put as many as you can?
Do you feel tags are more important that the description?

YTTalk is my way, you get involved in the community and get your channel out their at the same time, I have noticed allot of exposure to my videos when using YTTalk and putting my Videos on my signature.

There's also sharing it with certain Facebook pages and Twitter pages, with the way YouTube is now, posting videos on your social media and getting involved with people on Facebook and Twitter is a must.

What I would suggest is to make your content unique and your thumbnails, also make sure to work on your description and use proper grammar and tags.

I just try to make them as relevant as possible by studying my analytics and observing what tags bring in the most traffic. I just tried a new 'formula' on my 2 latest videos and the results are fine. :)

And yeah I think that the tags are more important than the description although you should include some of your keywords in it to use it to its full potential.

May I ask what "formula" you experimented with?
Also, what do you use for your analytics, just YouTube analytics or do you go elsewhere?[DOUBLEPOST=1404759881,1404759695][/DOUBLEPOST]

Do you primarily share with FB pages that are related to the video you created? And do you post in groups at all or only pages?

Twitter wise.. who do you tag to share your content with? I am looking to become more integrated with Twitter marketing.
