Views to Subs...

So we have a bit of a conundrum here....our results do date are 8 vids posted, 16 Thousand Views and 141 Subs. This in a 2.5 month period.

Sounds great right? The problem we seem to be facing is turning our Views into Subs....we do a fantastic job (in my opinion) of marketing our vids through facebook, forums, texts, group messages, social media...etc. Thus our high view count (relatively speaking for a new channel). Question is, are we making our viewers lazy....knowing we will always keep posting so they don't have to go to YouTube to sub?

Our viewership is 75% Male, 25% Female and ranges in a wide age range of 18-45, with the bulk of that 25-40. My belief is because we have an older (again relatively speaking) audience for YouTube, specifically for comedy based channel, and thus they are unlikely to be a consistent, account holding, YouTuber, so we need to keep posting out like we do....but are we shooting ourselves in the foot?

In terms of quality of video, we think we're ok....a couple of us have done stand up comedy successfully but are new to taking that into this format, so it's still a learning curve for sure and we're getting better at writing, filming and editing. Our audience retention is usually in the 70% range so for what we've researched thats good?

Sorry for the long post. Any food for thought here?

I'll start by saying your videos are entertaining, and that to achieve that many subscribers in that amount of time, and get that many views as wel; very nice. Since you're doing everything right, it'll just take time for people to come around. The best suggesting I can give you is to be more engaging in your videos, and interact with your fans. I only watched two of your videos, and I really didn't see that much audience interaction. If someone was to come by your channel, even if they heard it from a friend. I'd assume they'd most likely believe it to be like every other skit channel, and move along. While you will get the views, the subscribers are the people that stick around for the long haul. They aren't just numbers, they are people, people that enjoy your content & want to interact with you.

Thanks so much for the feedback and taking the time to check out the channel. You said something that's very interesting as we just had that same discussion....that we aren't making a connection with the audience. It's so different in stand up as you get instant feedback with the audience and know if you're doing good or not. It's something we are looking to change so thank you for validating for us![DOUBLEPOST=1423796562,1423796526][/DOUBLEPOST]MODS could you please move to Strategies discussion...mistakenly posted here.

For me, what I do (although I have significantly less views than you :P) are to tell people to subscribe in the video itself (cuz I saw you just used a subscribe screen in the video) which some viewers may find less personal.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what places did you share your videos to get thousands of views already? I'm sharing everywhere yet still top out at 450 views...

and whats that song thats used in 0:22 in "Picking Up Girls"? always wanted to know what that was aha

Thanks Logan for taking the time to give feedback! Yeah we were always forgetting to film the "Call to action" scenes....probably from being exhausted by end of filming and fightING with each other...lol. Going forward we don't wrap till we have the call to action and thumbnail image done.

We share our video EVERYWHERE! Between the 3 of us we have 2000 facebook friends....so that's a huge source. We also use Twitter with hashtags, and get friends with bigger follower lists to retweet. From there we use Reddit, StumpleUpon, 9gag, break...but the biggest key is we live our channel 24/7. Literally I grab peoples phones at work and post it on their Facebook. ..get them to share it on What's App....etc. This isn't our career...it's a hobby but one we are super passionate about...so we don't miss an opportunity to promote. I'm the old guy in the group (38) so for me it's a now or never attitude. I've waited my whole adult life to follow my dreams...and to make people laugh so I really spend a ton of time on this endeavor.

I don't know the music top of mind....but I think it's just a generic music at 0:22 in that vid. I'll get you the exact name tomorrow (too lazy to go downstairs to my mac....lol).

Thanks again for your feedback....we really do appreciate it!

Have you tried adding the YouTube subscribe link to your Facebook? It is www(dot)youtube(dot)com/subscription_center?add_user=xxxx and replace the xxxx with your username (check it works before you share!). There is also an html YouTube subscribe button you can add to emails and webpages.

Wow had no idea we could do that! That's going to help Us big time as Facebook is our largest reach! Thanks so much for the tip!
