Viewcount bug or real?

I do have some that got dropped within a couple of hours, guess YouTube was trying to promote and it wasn't working out. However sometimes YouTube will try again! I had a video that was promoted and it was getting lots of views , the out of no where it got dropped from suggested views, and it went down to almost no view . However, three weeks later YouTube started to promote it again and it jumped up in views. So you never know!! Good luck!!!
Yep, like Ryan ToysReview said YouTube tried to promote it and it didn't work out. Think of it like this. The YouTube algorithm guessed you had a good video based on a number of factors. The most important of which was average view time. It started promoting it but your average view time dropped too much so they stopped promoting it. It could take off again because the average view time will climb back up based on previous traffic sources and then they'll stick it somewhere else. I have a video I posted around two months ago that after a few days spiked for just one hour to around 20,000 views an hour. Traffic dropped after that to around 100 views an hour. It sat there for around a week, and then jumped to around 3,000 views per hour and it's stayed in the range of 1,000 views to 5,000 views per hour since. Even if your video never spikes again it's a really good sign because the YouTube algorithm is now looking to promote your videos. I know it's really weird to sort of assign these almost human qualities to an algorithm but it's just the way it works. If you have a video that doesn't have the average view time drop as YouTube keeps putting in front of more and more videos YouTube will keep promoting it in more and more places. Eventually average view time has to drop because YouTube will have shown it to almost everybody so people that are clicking it have seen it before and don't watch the whole thing. So think of a video as having a life span where it's super heavily promoted for a while. Then by the nature of statistics it will slow down. But the good news is that slow down often doesn't happen until you're in the 10's or 100's of millions of views.

Thanks for your guesses everyone and the insight YouTuber1978. However, that spike was purely from an external website as I now know from Analytics. My video landed on the front page of sadistic.pl which apparently is a big website in Poland and works similar to Reddit, just in Polish and for black humor kind of stuff.

That day has put Poland from 11th to 4th of my video's most viewed countries. :D

Awww man. Sorry to hear that. It's cool to get views from an imbed source but I was really keeping my fingers crossed for you it was a YouTube promotion. It looked like one. Fingers crossed you'll get one soon. It's cool when it happens and the traffic doesn't drop off. Anyway, keep making funny videos!

Anyway congrats - Yay I was right :D
Many people would do a lot to get this kind of exposure. Did the views also convert into subscribers?

Unfortunately only 13 of the 20,000 Poles subscribed on Friday. They were like 99% embedded views.
