Video Editing Software Help

Okay, so my 30 day trial of Vegas Pro ran out and I'm left with nothing to edit my content with, or at least any VES that is good. Right now I'm stuck with Windows Movie Maker. I plan on buying Vegas Pro in the future when ever I get the dough. But I want to know if there is any programs out there that you guys can suggest that is a suitable replacement for Movie Maker. Preferably one that is free and can import avi files. DxTory produces avi files when ever you record so that's what I need. I didn't know where else to post this so I hope you can help me.

Adobe Premier Pro, Windows Movie Maker, Hitfilm Express. Hifilm gives away their product sometimes for free. You should lookout for that. Hope that this will help you!
 
If you are looking for a cheap and good editing software, one I would recommend is Sony movie studio 12 platinum. I use this software for all my videos, it cost me around £40 which is not very much and it`s a really easy software to use. But if you want to use a free one movie maker is best bet.
 
If your still a student theres Adobe subscriptions so you get an editing set of programs for around 10/12 dollars a month I believe.
