Video Branding (Let's Play!)

I Love YTtalk
I'm not a gamer but it didn't take me long to see
that YouTubers were using the term "Let's Play"
for game play videos.

Is there an origination for that term or is there a
major Channel that started it/is using it?

In my genre, I created segments such as "Off The Pegs",
"Ripping Ten", and "Track Time". It wasn't long
before other YouTubers were copying my titles.
I did some research and found out that I can't
copyright titles but sometimes it bugs me when
people can't create their own titles.

The way that I look at it, if you're an adult, you
should be coming up with your own ideas and
branding.

If you don't mind, share your thoughts about
branding titles and segments. Do you create
your own segments within your channel?
What are your thoughts on using other's?

Well LP probably started with one of the more popular YouTubers who used it, and others followed suite. I don't use the term myself, because it's a video game. What else are you gonna do other than PLAY it? Seems little more than redundant to me.

I have random terms. I have a series called 'Let's Build Sh*t in Minecraft', I have 'Blind Drunk Happy Wheels' and 'Blind Drunk Slender'. The 'Blind Drunk' thing is a bit of a trademark of my channel (as well as Ostriches) as I have tried to stay away from the standard phrases used by most gamers.

I try and call it something unique - each of my series has never had Let's Play in the title..

- If I have a game where I know Im not going to make it a series, I just want to review or show off the game.. These are called "Hey Look!" videos.
- My ranting/commentaries with gameplay are called The Rambling Nerd videos.
- I have a pokemon series called Dawg's Pokeballs, for obvious child reason. Ball jokes never get old, right?

I think being creative and unique is awesome, sets you apart, and gives people something to look forward to - weird series names! Yay!

I don't use other people's titles. But some do, and I can easily see if it's "copied" or not. :P It's still annoying though.
