So I'm going to be attending vidcon 2014, and as it will be my first time, I'd love to get some advice.
Anything I should make sure I do while I'm there?
Best hotel to stay at?
If I'm going alone, what should I do to find people to hang out with?
Is Disney Day worth going to?
Any other tips at all?
Vidcon is the single largest gathering of youtubers each year. Make sure you get to meet everyone you wanted to meet-the likely won't be together in the same place until next year's Vidcon.
The two closest hotels are the hilton and marriott. The hilton is a total crazy party hotel and the marriott is way better if you actually want some quiet time to sleep at night. This year, the hilton is sold out because of another conference, so the marriott will likely be a madhouse since it's the closest hotel to the convention center. Don't expect any peace and quiet if you stay there.
You should be able to met people everywhere. You'll be in a ton of lines, so just talk to the people around you. You already have YouTube in common with them, so build on that.
If you've never been to Disneyland, it's worth going to-otherwise, skip it.
Other tips: you will be doing a ton of walking, so bring comfortable shoes and a few bottles of water. Have your camera ready at all times for pics. And don't be shy. If you see someone you want to meet, just go up and talk to them. That's what they're there for. Also don't depend on your phone's data plan to work, so if you plan on meeting someone during the convention, arrange the location and time in advance so you don't have to rely on your phone.
If you have transportation, consider attending the event at YouTube Space the Monday following Vidcon weekend. They will most likely hold a happy hour for everyone that afternoon.
