Hey, it's Karac soo I was wondering any of you first time vidconers or veterans have some experience on booking a hotel near the convention center during the time, I have seen they get very expensive near 190$ a night without the "discount" the vidcon website gives you for 150$.

Any of you have any tips or tricks to book a hotel near the convention center without paying as much....

Thanks Karac.

Man I want to go so bad, but I was sitting down the other day & after doing the math realized that it would run me around $1500 - $2000, which I won't have since I'm travelling this December.

To answer your question, I wonder if you could try to book a hotel through Hotwire or a similar site?

My only tip is do not leave it late :P

Myself I ended up paying $200+ nightly for a 1 person room in the Red Lion which was 3 stars I think and was ok but not anything amazing.

Question for anyone who does business pass: Why is the Hilton reserved for industry pass holders only? Does the industry track take place at the Hilton or am I missing something?

Is it? I bought an industry pass and did not know that :P

Last year anyway, the industry lounge and panels were on floors 2 & 3 of the convention centre.

I haven't looked into this at all, but I would imagine that they want to keep "stars" away from "fans" to avoid crazy fangirl situations.

...but that's a total guess. I have no idea.

Just get a couple friends or fellow youtubers who are going and share a room/the cost. Now it's not so expensive and more fun =)

After looking at alot of the hotels and prices on expedia because even with the disount the vidcon hotels were kinda ripoffs after taxes and fees, I went on Hotwire and found a 89$ hotel in the area and booked it on a limb and it was the ayress now this same hotel was 120$+ on the other websites so I recommend hotwire for that, only downside is the 2.5 mile distance from the convention center because of the prices for the hilton and other hotels in 1 mile vicinity were normally 150+$[DOUBLEPOST=1417026516,1417026488][/DOUBLEPOST]

I was not aware of that. As @ellelletalk mentioned, it could be to give Industry Pass holders a more private place to stay. In the past, 'fans' would hunt down their favorite personalities in the hotels.

They literally shut down a section of the hotel, as they said on the website, people who stayed in the hilton last year know why. But like many people have said it's better to stay little farther from the convention in order to not hear screaming hordes of the walking fan girl every day and night when they see someone remotely famous.
