Very Low Monetised View Percentage

Hi I started a channel in mid December and it is growing fairly rapidly. I am averaging 15k views per day but my monetised views are only at about 15% - 18% of my total views per day.

This seems extremely low as I have a friend who makes the same kind of content (league of legends) and he is getting a much better percentage.

Does being a newer channel just mean you get less ads from adsense or what. I am partnered with Omnia if that helps any.

My main channel is over 2 years old and barely gets 10% monetized views. My business channel (where I do analytics tutorials) is much higher (close to 45% monetized views). My gaming channel is very new (barely 2 weeks old) and it's had a whopping total of 2 monetized views (that's right 2, not 2%.... a total of 2!).
 
Sorry but your reply was completely unhelpful. Not trying to sound like an ******* but saying that you have had crap monetised views doesn't help me. I need to know whether being a newer channel can effect my monetised views.

Well excuse me if my female penchant for trying to answer a question with an anecdote was unhelpful to you. My point was I have a channel that's over 2 years old and it's monetization is also low, so NO I do not think it's because your channel is new.

There is that more helpful!?
 
The amount of monetized views is very dependant on your content not on the age of your channel. Great content and lot's of views mean more interest from advertisers, that results in more monetized views and then Google will only boost that since lot's of views means lot's of $$$.

Well maybe because most of your views come from youtube talk and those people use adblock so no your answer is not particularly helpful. My sister channel which has double the percentage of monetised views puts the exact same content out.

I am just looking for someone who knows a bit of information about the youtube algorithms. I am assuming retention rate plays a big part but again I share the same retention as my sister channel. The other channel gets 6 million views per month on average and this one gets only 400k so maybe that factors in too.

Adblock is involves only 2-5% of all views, so that won't matter much...

I wish you'd stop making assumptions. Firstly, most of my views do not come from YTTalk, they come from YouTube Search Results, for all my channels. The big difference for me is my audience between the channel that gets 10% monetized views and the one that gets 45%. The audience interested in analytics tutorials are much more likely to not use adblock than the general population (the primary reason views are not monetized is whether or not the user has a form of adblock in place or not). That's seriously false information. The majority of unmonetized views come from users using adblock. The rest generally come from mobile.

I've heard other statements being made. I mean only a part of your views is monetized, it's not like all the ones that aren't are because those people use adblock.
