using webcam for vlogs

still living in the world of rock music
for my vlogs, I use the webcam on my laptop because I cant afford a camera at the moment

is there any downsides to this or is it no problem using a webcam than using a camera
 
Honestly, work with what you got I was having this discussion earlier and personality trumps quality any day as long as you are intereacting, being honest and are relate-able you should be fine. But eventually you want to invest in your channel
 
There's nothing wrong with webcams. Everyone has to start somewhere. I started off with a webcam and I just slowly upgraded. If you truly have a passion for youtube you'll go for it no matter what your medium is. And in all honesty, your webcam quality isn't that bad.
 
What he said your webcam honestly isn't that bad but once you can afford it I'd recommend a small camera or canon power shot
 
Nothing wrong with using a webcam, like TheFreshBiz said, use what you got. You will need to invest in a camera a ways down the line tho, i feel a webcams quality can only take you so far.

True there comes a point when you have to step your quality up in order to make it to the next level. Some people won't watch a video unless it's hd and now with 4k camera are only getting better
 
Nothing wrong with starting off with a webcam, bro. :) It never hurts to upgrade once you have the funds though! I use a Canon Rebel t3 (check my channel for my latest vlog and you'll see the quality of the camera) to record all my stuff. But personality trumps all so as long as you're a happy and personable guy and your content is entertaining, people will watch you. :)
 
A point id like to make is id recomend upgrading sound before you upgrade video (A new camera) get a seperate sound setup and sync it up in post people tend to be turned away quicker by bad sound than they are image quality saying this untill you get a better camera make the best out of what you have lighting is a big thing to, before i had softboxes i would vlog infront of a window during the daytime this had the best lighting and you could really see the differance between the nightime yellow room light and the sunlight.
