There is still a huge difference between a headset and a studio mic. But yes there are god headset mics out there but it's like entering the lottery. You can buy a certain headset and the mic is fine, and you recommend it to your friend and it's awful.
Oh no argument there a proper radio/podcasting/etc mic is so much better (I really want a yeti pro!), but if you are on a budget, there's no reason it has to sound like a fluffy, static-y mess. Usually people just don't know how to control their mic so they're breathing down it and all sorts
