Uploaded first video? Now what?

I have started to record more videos but what do I do now to get more viewers, subscribers etc? What are you best tips for progression? For advertising to gain an audience?

Start a Facebook account. Search for relevant groups and pages on there and share.

First thing's first: Share your channel here!!!!
Hover over your name in the top left of the site
Select "Personal Details" from the drop down menu
Then locate the box for "YouTube Username"
In another tab, go to your channel, and copy the last part of the URL, the mush of numbers that looks like UCRCFOfNks3a1gHoFSnkxBVg or something like that.
Paste that mush of numbers in the "YouTuber Username" box and click the Save Changes button at the bottom. Now everyone can go to your magical channel and see what you made!

But seriously, I recommend not doing much in regards to caring. Keep working on more videos, but try to not care about your channel because you wind up wasting a ton of time checking it when you don't need to and bumming yourself out that your views only went up by 5 since last time you checked it.
Maybe you'll get lucky and explode right away but that is rare.
You can promote if you want but honestly it doesn't do that much. If you don't already have a platform you use regularly I think it's worthless to start one for that sole purpose. Just spend that time into making more vids. Now if you actually want to start a social media page and plan to use it for more than self-promotion, by all means go ahead. But I don't think it accomplishes that much unless your video is very topical or very appealing (popular song covers for example). Promoting a playthrough or a review accomplishes very little.
