Upcoming MCN changes on Youtube?

Posting Mad!
Hello Fellows,

Excerpt from info email from the Network:
YouTube is creating two different types of channels: managed and affiliated. A managed channel is one that the network is primarily responsible for. An affiliated channel is a channel that the channel owner is primarily responsible for.

How do you think we will be affected (positively or negatively) by these changes?
Is it upon our choice or upon Networks choice whether we be placed into "Managed" or "Affiliated" channel partnership plan in the Network?

Do we really lose our earnings history in our Analytics when we be moved to "Managed" channel? (that was mentioned in the info email i got from Network im into)

This will not really be affecting me since my network has decided that all of it current partners will be moved to "managed" and newer partners will be placed in "affiliated". But I do think this will shake up the MCN business for awhile, specifically larger networks will with a lot of smaller channels. Personally I recommend if you are placed as an "affiliate" then upload your videos in advance as unlisted so it will be reviewed and monetized before it goes public.

It's the network's choice on which category you will be, most networks will make everyone "affiliated" and allow their top partners to be "managed". However some will have requirements to be placed in the "managed" category, you're just going to have to ask your network.

You will lose your earnings history in your Analytics due to technical reasons on YouTube's side.

Affiliates lose quite a bit of features, yes you lose analytics for a bit while transferring to managed because you need to unlink a re-link to another content manager.

Really, small channels (>1M views monthly) (affiliates) will just have to learn to use the scheduled uploader so they can have their videos monetized by the time they go public.[DOUBLEPOST=1384638468,1384638342][/DOUBLEPOST]

Its no glitch or anything, to be put on managed you actually have to be moved from one MCN to another, like say from "RPMNetworks" to "RPMNetworks_managed"
Analytics always go away when you first join a new MCN because you only see what you've earnt with that MCN :)

There are some fairly significant rumors that Curse is doing managed for the majority of their partners and using affiliate as a trial for their new partners before moving them to managed.

I was talking lately to a 2M views monthly channel that Curse is putting onto affiliate :p

Thank you very much for replies!

As i try to understand, for a gaming channel it is way better if Network placing channel under "managed" plan (assuming once in a while copyright issues might arrive)?

p.s. Thanks a lot for detailed info about "Earnings Analytics history" thing. Before I did not clearly understood if it means that we may loose access to "Earnings Analytics" tab and the Earning Analytics history, or just the history will be cleaned. Now its clear!

One more thing - how to we see where our channels have been placed to and when it happen? Is it mentioned somewhere in our channels settings that we are now affiliated or managed, or the only way to know is to contact partner manager?

Well this rumor is true, they emailed all of their partners about three days ago telling us how this change will affect us.

How long has he been partnered with Curse? I'm sure that he will be categorized as "managed".

Can I ask if the analytics is only accessible for affiliate category? or it will be the same with managed category channels?

Analytics will be available to everyone, providing that your network doesn't block it.
