Two 64GB SD Cards Broken

I have always disliked the flimsy feeling of SD cards and I had my first issues with my 64GB Kingston SD cards plastic housing started coming apart after maybe 6 months of owning it. Today my SanDisk Extreme 64GB card is doing the same so I am going to try and send them in for a replacement under warranty since they both have lengthy ones.

Something I have noticed is that I will be able to avoid this in the future by only ever buying 64gb micro SD cards, these ones slot into the adapter and its usually the adapter part that seems to break with SD cards so I am going to buy the micro SD which comes with an adapter and whenever the contacts break I can replace the adapter part for a few quid with the 64GB SD part perfectly intact as it will only ever need removing from the housing once the contacts knack up.

I have learned my lesson twice now with them and I am just thankful there is a sort of solution to avoid it again.

I am just hoping they perform as well as the others I have had.
 
I would have used the micro SDs too if I felt I'd break them but luckily I haven't screwed up yet. I think the micro SD to the adapters should perform just as well as long as you get good quality ones with high transfer speeds since DSLR video tends to need that sort of thing.
 
Mine were both decent, one a Sandisk Extreme 64GB class 10 and the other the equivalent but made by Kingston :D I am getting a micro SD instead, theyre cheaper it seems too. When I bought mine they were around £40-£50 at the time.
 
I do the whole MicroSD with an adapter but the read and write speeds don't seem to be the same and I often have to wait for the buffer to empty.

For example I was only able to record 10 seconds of 720p video using a Canon 1100d while using a SanDisk Ultra 32GB Class 10 (30mb/s). Know idea why this was. I also using the adapter that came with the card as well..
 
I have had a PNY 8GB SD for the past 6 years since it came with the camera I got and haven't had this issue..though a card my dad got from SanDisk failed after 2 weeks once and they had no issue sending out a new one. :D
 
I have some news about this the Kingston one was counterfeit, I paid £50 on ebay for it and thought I had the Kingston lifetime warranty so there goes that sadly. My SanDisk one is 45mb/s but I am running a write speed test and its hovering around 18mb/s so this one looks like another £40-£50 fake card too. I am so annoyed by this and I can only say I am going to be VERY careful when purchasing memory cards in the future. No wonder the 8GB SanDisk is sturdy as ever, it is likely legit as it come from Asda. I went and bought a new card on ebay too, I am going to check the write speed, confirm with SanDisk and if its fake I will be getting a refund.

You should always get them in stores or off Amazon!
