Troubles Filming with Canon

Lets just get this out of the way.. I need a new display pic. Now onto my real problem. I use a Canon 70D with a sigma 18-35mm lens. I`m happy with the depth of field, but in the video I dont look right. Like I dont look good.. I`m in focus due to the great autofocus, but I just dont know why I dont look as focused or sharp as some other youtubers with the same lens.. This probably made no sense. My latest video would be something you couldl ook at to see if you know the problem.

Do you use a remote shutter release? I found that, by using one of them, my videos improved their look almost instantaneously. Maybe try a 'pancake' lens for your camera too.

I just hit record, get positioned and then edit it out later. I have a 50mm but dont use it for video

I'd recommend a pancake lens too, the lens I currently use is the 50mm which is my favourite prime to use but the 40mm is great too!

No need for another lense, check around with your settings, maybe you've got a strange cinestyle on or something, have a look at sharpness, etc.

Hey! Thats what I was thinking.. I use neutral because thats what people on youtube said to use... should I be using portrait or auto?

Get positioned first!! Use a remote shutter release to automatically adjust the best settings to where you are, and go from there. Try experimenting and playing around with different lenses to get the look you want. I use my pancake lens when I do close-up, vlog-style videos (such as my trailer reviews). I like the depth of field it gives.
