Top Comment Threads?

I don't understand why there have been a lot of threads about getting a top comment recently, do people feel a sense of achievement from it, or approval, or do people just like to share it with each other?
I'm not trying to dig at anyone or to offend anybody, but I just don't understand the big deal around it.
 
Pardon my bad grammar..im posting from my phone. I think people like getting top comment because it makes you feel..almost special..like your opinion is important. I also enjoy getting top comment and havent gotten one for quite some time. I also think it has to do with a mass majority of people respecting what you have to say. If you say something funny...then that means recognition forvsaying simething witty and clever. Not only that it it a chance to gain a few subs.
