Too Old for YouTube?

Just curious what you guys think.

I've been wanting to jump on the YT bandwagon for AAAAGES, but I've been too scared. However, since I'm close to publishing a YA book and have some other ventures, I think it might be a good way to generate publicity/connect with an audience. I'm feeling things out right now, but I really like the idea of doing beauty, fashion, writing, vlogs and health videos. I'm definitely not a beauty guru as I don't possess great make-up skills beyond my own make-up.

However, I'm getting old guys. I'm in my late 20s and I've read a bunch of YouTube threads on other forums bashing people for being 30+ on YouTube (which I will be eventually!) and not seeming to have another career. I'm definitely not going to NOT have another career as this YouTube thing is sort of a side thing....but do you think late 20s is too old to be doing this?

Perhaps this is a silly question!

I don't think you can be too old for this kind of thing. Besides, the early adopters of YouTube are already approaching their mid-late twenties so there'll definitely be a market for it in future.
I'm 24 myself, and most of the content I watch is produced by people in their mid-twenties so don't go thinking there's a 'YouTube Menopause' where the second you hit 30 you'll be ostracised.

Don't be silly, there's no age limit on when you can start YouTube, if you want to, you do it, don't let them stop you!

I think anybody can on youtube and make videos and have fun its youtube theres no age limit to using it (just flagged vids) so i say if you want to go for it. Its better than having a lot of snot nosed rude kids that you see trolling around anyway.

Too old for youtube? That's craaazy. Youtube is a place for creators, not one base age, gender, any of that. Plus, if you don't go broadcasting your age, most won't go hunting for it. In the long run, people won't really care as long as you don't care.

I don't think anyone has ever bashed us for being old. We even started a rumor that one of our cast members is 55-and there hasn't been any backlash. Good content is good content. Age doesn't matter unless it's out of place-like a 13 year old giving financial advice in a video.

I would love to see that - exactly once.

Thanks guys. I agree...although I did think it was funny that a lot of people harp on the fact that Luke Conard is 33. Like...WHO CARES?

I think there are several women out there past their mid-20s and into their 30s like Lisa Schwartz, Jenna Marbles, Olga Kay, etc. so I guess it's not too bad![DOUBLEPOST=1366846039,1366845998][/DOUBLEPOST]

With a rather precocious child, that would be rather funny though. :)
