I Love YTtalk
Hey guys, I just thought I would make this thread for those who are a bit unsure about a username to use. I hope this helps! I know it is long, but read as much as you can.
THESE ARE JUST SUGGESTIONS!
IT DOES NOT HAVE TO RELATE WITH WHAT YOUR CHANNEL IS ABOUT
A common misconception is that your name has to have a word or phrase that ties back to your videos, and it doesn't. This usually happens with gamers. I see a lot of gaming channels that say "gaming" or "TV" or "FPS" and I'm like "NO!" It really is not necessary. Look at famous youtubers: PewDiePie, sxephil, smosh, nigahiga. Their usernames have NOTHING to do with their content. But, also remember not to go overboard --> if your channel is about tips and tricks with computers, then a username like "fuzzycats" is a bit off.
(^Nothing against it. It just seems like many new youtubers think that they MUST have a specific relation with their video content and their username. You don't have to, but if you want to, you can!)
MAKE IT EASY TO REMEMBER
I honestly cannot count how many times I have seen usernames like: "B3rdfiglo09" and stuff. THAT. WILL. KILL. YOU. Give your viewers something easy to remember. I also can't remember how many times I find a funny vid and then forget the youtuber's name. IT is very frustrating. If they can't remember who you are, how will they find your videos and share em?
TIP: If it easier to remember, separate your words with capitals. EX: BigMarblesTV
HAVE A CATCHY USERNAME, SHORT AND SWEET
Unless you are using your real name, make sure your channel name is catchy. Something that has a nice ring to it. A nice username like "Flumbum" is a lot better than "ToughyShortMouse".
CREATING A USERNAME
Now that you know the basics of making a good username, now you have to choose one. There are several ways to make usernames, here are a couple:
1. Use a meme. Sorta like my username, a meme is something that strikes hard and something people remember for a while. It is also pretty amusing.
2. Use your real name. A real name is pretty good, if your name is catch and short. Something like Jenna Marbles, or Ryan Higa are good examples. If your name is Kilisha Lambrownshimato, then I dont recommend this tactic.
3. Memories. Say that you remember bungee jumping one time, you could definitely use it in your username! If your last name is Jones, then your username could be BungeeJones.
4. Using numbers. Numbers are great resources for usernames and could be used in many creative ways. Say, your basketball number is 3 and you love the song "Mercy" by Kanye West, then your username could be " SW3R3" (An good example on the forum is Th3StuffShow)
GOOD EXAMPLES VS BAD EXAMPLES
MEME:
Good: DoYouEvenNO
Bad: Slothswillrapeyou
REAL NAME:
Good: DannyJohnson
Bad: Jennifer Da'Laughterederi
MEMORIES:
Good: FlySkyDive
Bad: CircumscisionLastYR
NUMBERS:
Good: B4DtotheBone
Bad: Pr33tyG1rL43VER
