Thanks for advice! i appreciate itI have almost 160 videos up on my channel now. I still trip over my words and drop the camera etc. The best advice I have is to be yourself. It will work out in the end. Not everyone wants to watch channels that look like 100% production quality.
Yeah I guess you're right. Thanks for the adviceBe on it alot, I used to be scared to talk into my headset for the Xbox long ago. Now it is second nature. I have found that simply doing something over and over can break a barrier at some point and the discomfort goes away.
Yep, thanks man! I appreciate your advicePractice makes perfect!! Keep doing it and it will get easier, and if it helps imagine that the camera is one of your friends and that you're just talking to them as you usually would.
Thanks for the advice!RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX.
Shoot short segments so you know that if it goes bad, you only have to reshoot one small segment.
Be yourself.
Talk to the camera as if it was your best friend.
Do that and it's easy.
Thanks for the advice! I keep thinking about the people that will watch the video. You're right, I should just think of the camera as an inanimate object. That should helpI suck at talking to actual people, but I do all right in front of the camera. I think the trick is just knowing you're talking to an inanimate object. Don't think about how many people will be watching. Also, you will be editing it when you're done, so you can cut out any awkward bits. Have a bit of a script or a point form list of what you want to cover and say it a few times (but not like a script, try to sound natural. If you try to say word-for-word what you've got written, it sounds forced).
That's some awesome advice! Thanks! I'm gonna start doing this implementing thisI also struggled with this problem. I still have some issues with it. I found a few things that really helped me a lot.
The first thing is that I use a teleprompter so that I can read my script while looking directly at the camera. It removes the umms and also makes me focus on reading more than how I might look or sound.
Have you ever watched a video with you in it and thought wow I sound weird. or "Do I really talk like that?" I have found that over the course of editing videos that I have grown used to hearing my own voice. This has helped me a lot in realizing how I sound when I speak. It feels a lot less awkward. I recommend listening to yourself speaking as much as you can until you are comfortable with your voice.
Lastly, I found that turning the camera on and just speaking for a while before trying to present my content helps too. Don't put pressure on yourself to nail it in one take. It can take an hour or more for me to get a natural take of what I am trying to say.
The fact that you are self aware enough to know you are struggling here is a good sign. Just practice and learnt o be comfortable being you and you will see improvement.
Best of luck my friend.
