Time to start a rant...Possibly.

Kate (Caitlin)

I make videos on the internet...I guess?
Soooo I've heard a lot of guys saying along the lines of:

'Its easier for girls to get views on youtube because of younger male audiences'

Well, that might not be the case as the majority of my views are female themselves. I just wanted to know if guys you think that girls get views easier and girls if the majority of your viewers are male or female.

and with that I go to bed.

I think it really depends on the channel content. My main channel is getting views from a 64% male audience. I think that's mainly because I post video game content (if I did beauty vlogs, it would be skewed differently).

My 2nd channel gets 72% male, but also an older demographic (I don't have anyone under 25 watching those videos) - and that's because the web analytics industry is mostly male.

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with the fact I'm female though, and I really don't get extraordinary views on either channel.

Yes, and no.

Sometimes, people will exploit 'themselves' by showing cleavage on a thumbnail, and for some reason they click on it. Thats what reply girls mostly are. And because a few do it on purpose, then any thumbnail with a female in gets alot of attention. Also don't expect the analytic s to be true on some videos, it may say Male 25-40 or whatever, but remember people do lie about their age when signing up. Especially when under 16!

The guys that say that are just jealous, its not your fault your a girl, but it will end up getting you more views, as believe it or not, its an attractive thing for some to find someone that knows something about YouTube or the internet and isn't dumb.

My life will be complete if I find a wife that I can talk about computer components with and she will understand.

It depends how you picture yourself and what audience you want.

If you sit there with a huge cleavage you'll get a lot of teen boys drooling. But if you act mature you'll get a more mature audience as well.

In general I say it's easier for women to get clicks or views on their videos but I think it's the same to be able to build a large audience.

This reminds me of something we talked about a few months ago. I think it depends on what the video is about. If it's a fashion video or whatever, most likely girls will watch more of it. However if it's something like a tag video, it can go both ways as far as viewers go. Of course that's not to say a guy won't watch a fashion video just to see a pretty girl or whatever, and sometimes the top comment is something like "you're hot" (Patrick voice).

So... I'd say it's easier for girls to get views. They appeal to the masses more than the average guy does. Especially with YouTube being watched by so many teens. If they see a pretty looking girl, they're probably gonna gravitate towards that video more than a video with a guy in his 30s (no offense to fellow guys).

However! Guys will watch videos were other guys talk about football, baseball, wrestling (GASP! Wrestling is popular?), etc. etc. Manly stuff. xD (I'm a boy-girl)

*From a teens perspective*

Well, I understand that if your showing your face then you're more likely to get male viewers that are under 16, The majority of my views are from girls the same age group as me and so if the male portion of my views.

I just don't understand why people say its easier because if anything its harder,
Girls that show their face = Trying to appeal to male audience
Girls that don't show their face = Ugly

It's unfair to make the assumption that its easier for guys vs. girls.

It'***** and miss. I know a lot of women that do it because they love it, never really play the gender card, and do what they love. On the other hand, I know a few that have leveraged the fact that they are women (ie: facecam literally ALL the time in tight revealing clothes, thumbnails wit dem sweater kitties hangin out, etc) and have spiked in subs/views VERY fast. The worst I've seen is episodes of Call of Duty gameplay where all she did was moan for 2-3 minutes over Xbox live.

The good thing about most of these people is the ones that love it, stick around, and the ones that leverage their goods for a quick thrill fade away.
