I've Got It
Hey there everyone, I know this new layout and update youtube is rolling out on the 22nd of February is ******* a ton of people off, including myself. So what does everyone think about it? Will it be good that everyone can get a banner now ( I personally hate that idea, All partners had to work for their banners) or do you think its a bad move on youtubes part? Leave a comment and discuss below :D

I hate it, and hate the fact that I worked so hard to get a partner banner and it means nothing now because everyone gets it. Not to mention the new layout makes all channels look the same. Say hi to GoogleTube, because YouTube is gone.

Good points :
cleaner
easier to design than old non partner layout
discussions
trailer video

Bad points :
lowers designers income by a lot
background designers are either going to fail or move on
creativity down 85%
another difference full partners had, gone.
ughhh soooo much white
channels look pretty much the same
clickable banners are gone :(

cant agree more man, they've take all the individuality from youtube...

Yep they definitely are, and I hate that even tho 90% of the Youtube community hates it, they are going to force it upon us anyway.
The thing I dont understand is how they can be so damn blind. The last update EVERYONE was p****d and complained about it and people STILL do and they didnt even take notice to how people respond or act to these updates that are supposed to BENEFIT US...

I would agree with this. I'd only add a couple more things: it's good that they're offering banners to more people and laying out playlists in a more organized fashion, making customization easier for most. It's bad that they've removed the option to autoplay videos on your channel for the most part, and that you can't feature as many channels in your box as before.

So seems like not a single one of you knows jack about branding a channel. The new layout is literally designed to grow your viewer base. When youtube switched to the current one, subscribers increased 3 times as much as before. I wish non partners did not get it, but the rest of it has 0 negatives.

1) This isn't about branding your channel, it's about the layout style YouTube changes to, which alters the list of changes the individual can make. In my opinion, we are getting less freedom as far as customization and branding go.

2) There isn't an increase in viewership, it's an increase in subscribers, because you see those random subscribe buttons at the side of your screen. But think about it, how likely are you to watch the videos made by somebody whose channel is posted there? If you just found a video of their or were referred to them by somebody else you watch, you'll be more likely to, since you recognize their image. However, if you just pushed a button, you won't recognize them. Your subscriber count can go up without gaining views. Case in point: I have over 1,500 subscribers, but get maybe 200 views per video. Subscribers =/= viewers.
