Thoughts on Alex From Target going to playlist live?

All I read is: "I am a crybaby that has to do a lot of work for nothing, and this ******* just steals the spotlight that should be MINE"

Deal with it. It's all who you know, how you look and how much insane luck you have. But, if you don't put yourself out there you can forget about gaining anything to begin with. Rather than focusing on others successes (or rather, one hit wonders) start focusing your energy on yourself and your own content. Like numbers another person's success is the way to negativity. You do not want to deal with that. Bottle it up and use your hatred for people who make it look easy to create the most awesome content you can muster. And above all... have FUN! Screw what's his name from whatever store he works or worked at. GO RACHAEL!

You say that like this isn't a totally understandable feeling. Like someone working hard and seeing no return has no basis upon which to resent the internet just gift-wrapping media attention to someone for no good reason. Like some starving band puttering their way to their next gig at a sports bar in an old Ford Focus is totally off-base with getting mad at a band that's playing the Ozzfest because the lead singer looked funny in a picture and it went viral, knowing that the band is going to bomb on stage because they're not actually any good while the starving band has been practicing day and night for years and could actually CAPITALIZE on that opportunity if they got the chance.

You say "well rather than focusing..." like human beings are only capable of doing and thinking one thing at a time. While I'm checking on this thread I have one video rendering, two more uploading, and I'm scoping out what to record next (also I need to check on something for my ACTUAL job). We multitask, we do everything we can for ourselves, and we are wholly allowed a moment of grumpiness at the fact that the opportunity of a lifetime is not being offered to someone who could really use it.

Take that "crybaby" BS outta here, get off your high horse. We're PEOPLE, we have emotions and feel things when we see things. You want to look down your nose at the rest of us, take your own advice and stop worrying about us and go work on your own channel.

Tears rolling. That was deep. :')

I should point out I'm not hating on ALEX with any of that. Alex seems to be a nice enough kid, he's doing some charity work with his moment and he's also been totally unfairly targeted with doxing and harassment online. That is pure BS and my heart goes out to the kid.

What I'm talking about with all that up there is more the "lottery" aspect of the internet. If someone on here just randomly had, I don't know, an IGN editor see their video and post it on IGN's frontpage because they liked it and bang that YTTalker goes from 500 subs to 250,000 overnight, would I be jealous? Damn right! But I'd also be so freaking happy for them because they hit the dream we all want. At least then lightning struck for someone that deserved it.

Like, let me use a funny example. Justin Bieber. Say what you will about him, this was a kid who got a totally random notice from a record exec based on his YouTube covers of Usher songs, and the guy saw Justin play at a piano recital and signed him. That is AWESOME. That's how it's supposed to happen. Someone gets that big boost based on the merits of their work, not because they happened to be attractive near someone with a camera.

I mean, as long as he's not hosting a panel or anything cause the kid really doesn't seem to have much to talk about.

But for all we know he could be hiding this remarkable study that he's been doing about the liklihood of becoming internet famous based on looks and he's presenting it at playlist. That would be pretty funny :P

whilst I don't think its fair, its the way of the internet. There is a good chance his fame won't go far but it doesn't mean we can't be a little bitter about it.
But hey, everyone feel free to make me viral, I'm down for that ;)

Many people wish they had that opportunity. He is using a chance moment to build it into something else. If it turns out that he has no talent or appeal, then let nature take it's course.

I think he got lucky. It happens. I don't see why he has over 6000 subscribers with no videos. I still think he should have to put some content out there. Maybe he'll take the opportunity and run with it and be great. You never know. This did just kind of happen to him.
