Theory on Subscriber Problems

I just had a crazy theory. Could be wrong, could be right. What are your thoughts?

Basically, as I said in another thread, my new subs for the last 3 days has registered at 0. HOWEVER, I know that people have subscribed. Probably about 4-5 people, in fact. But the numbers just aren't going up.

Could it be, that nowadays just as you can't see subs in your subs list when they set it to private, the number isn't adding on either?

Just a thought. For the last 3 days, literally whenever I gain a sub, the number doesn't go up which means that either someone is unsubbing at that exact moment, every time, or there is a reason.

Or... could it be like with the views, how they're delayed now so we simply have to wait?

Ever since my channel got hit with that glitch where YT deleted all views then restored them my whole view/sub count has been abhorrent.

It's REALLY ticking me off cos it's ruined my chances of getting to 400 subscribers by the end of March I'd have to get just between 2-3 subs daily between now and then and the way things are going that simply won't happen.

I've had that same problem! I get emails when people subscribe to me, but when I go on my channel the number doesn't always move. I just kept thinking it was because I was adding a subscriber, and then loosing one.

Have you tried changing to the new layout to see if that fixes it?

You can see in analytics if anyone has unsubbed but I doubt it is that.

You have to take note that exams are coming up so people are busy with revising than watching youtube. Views are expected to go down in the last three months of school.

The subscriber count operates on a delay. Plus they started using a different system late last year-certain new subscribers are placed in a holding area for a certain period of time while they are verified to see if they are real. Then they are added to your tally at the end of the day. It's here that people usually unsub before the are counted as they go through your videos. There's also a daily sub purge in the morning for inactive or suspicious subs.

i haven't had this problem with Subs yet that is interesting... my strange new experience with youtube was with the liking .. i knew people liked my video but they didn't register until much later

Frankie, I'm sure I vas suscribed to you...but I see now I vasn't. Anyway, I just did so see how long it takes for it to appear in the count. BTW: I'm sure you'll make your March goal! Your channel rulezzzzzz.

I'm on the new layout already and I had the glitch.
I went to my channel page and saw 0 subscribers!!! Refreshed, and still 0!!!
I crapped myself! A few minutes later and it showed my correct number again.

I'm pretty sure things are messed up though. My stats show I'm getting 0 hits on my channel page, yet my trailer ONLY shows on my channel page (its unlisted everywhere else) and that's getting steady hits, so I know people are viewing my channel page, yet the stats still show 0!
