The Sun Came Out

Michael

I Love YTtalk
And messed up the colours :D

Does anyone here have this problem every now and then? I set a custom white balance or even use one of the presets when recording and at some point in the video the sun comes out from behind the clouds and means you have an edit where it goes from a natural tone to a little orangey. So annoying and frustrating, I honestly thought setting a custom white balance or preset WB would prevent this from happening, here is a comparison:

What do you do yourself when this happens? Re-record or try and edit it so it blends in from one clip to the next? I find it hard to when its like that to that in one jump cut :D Surely theres something I could be doing to either prevent it or work with it better.

I never open my curtains XD also a lot of my stuff is filmed at like 8-9pm so it's usually dark around then.

That was my issue today, I had them wide open to let as much light in as possible because it was so drab, started recording, finished, watched it back and noticed the colour change, the weather went from cloudy and dull to bright and actually rather nice in less than two minutes :D I should probably shut the curtains and use the softboxes instead or bump the ISO a little :D

Personally I would try and record it again, otherwise you will spend a while just manually adjusting the colour balance all the way through the video. Ooooor you could just put it in grey scale for absolutely no reason XD

I think I can live with keeping it, I played with the colour corrector before but I cannot get it quite right so I a transition effect is going to have to do, I will make sure to not let this happen again if I can help it in future :D Grey scale would work wonders haha

I tend to keep the curtains shut and just use lights. But then I haven't actually filmed when the sun is properly out so may have to fiddle around when it finally does and see what happens

I certainly recommend keeping them shut if its bright outside at least on a day where theres clouds too, on a fully clear day you will probably be alright mostly.
