"The Struggle"

Hey everyone my name is Sal and I'm from NJ. In this thread I'd just like to hear everyone's struggle as a youtuber. It's been really hard to get noticed nowadays even with great content, and the ok saying quality over quantity just doesn't cut it anymore. I'd just like to know what does it take nowadays to become successful because clearly someone's gonna make it big eventually, but the question is how? What does it take? Spamming the crap out of people, forming connections with other Youtubers, working your butt of on great videos that get less than 1000 views? What does it take can someone please tell me.

It takes perseverance and being unique spamming is the wrong way to go meeting new people and collaborating making friends can help but i myself have have the struggle but i take it as a challenge for myself to get better so it takes a lot to get far on youtube.

I dunno if you have another channel, but the one you have attached there only has 3 videos, the first of which was uploaded about a week ago, no offence, but I don't think you are in as strong a position yet to say quality over quantity doesn't work.
But also, having excellent quality videos is what KEEPS people in your channel, but you really need to do a lot of advertisement, but in a fair and "non-spammy" way, such as telling your friends about it, networking to build up YouTube friendships, use Adwords or Virool, or even posting of forums such as this, but in accordance with their rules. On that last point, the best way to get views on forums and such (reddit etc.) is to not p**s people off. If you make a few friends, go about it correctly, then you shouldn't go wrong :)

i can say this will work (cuas i still a small channel) but i believe puting time and effort into your videos
making videos with people can help also
but my friend and i (were both youtubers) say time, if i ganna happen we need to give it time and let our subs become fans thats when you get big is when your subs are fans (and when you have a hell of a lot subs)

I'm having a real struggle right now'to gain more subs. Granted, my first video's weren't all thzt grezt yet, but since a month i've been trying ly best to get better and better. But even if I have some 'unique' content to show of next to my Let's Plays, they jjust don't bite.

and my current Let's Plays are also not really that attractive, as they are not the hot new games people are constantly looking forn:-\

maybe thats it maybe your trying to hard to get sub and just not injoying making videos
maybe all your missing is the "not trying to get sub" factor ....(wait what)
maybe you should just keep on entertaining and do co op but dont worry. subs come in due time and there not much you can do to get them
and what you can do you all ready have done (well you havent done a coop ) sooner or later sub will come but all in sue TIME

True, I'm not begging people to sub, definitely not. But its just odd seeing my subs grow very slowly compared to other channels who are perhaps even younger then mine.

Also, i mainly play on consoles, a bit harder to co-op then (don't have friends who do youtube)

My personal struggle: I feel like as a daily vlogger, I DO have good content, but my channel isn't getting noticed and I feel like I should have more subscribers and be more noticed. But since Youtube is different now, that's really hard to do. I'm an interesting person, but since I started making videos during a time when it would be really hard to get recognized, I'm not known at all. Except by people on here :D And my friends.

Anyway, to answer your question. It takes LUCK. It's like you gotta have a viral video or something to get any recognition. But you can't CREATE a viral video (my opinion). It's at random. It also takes perseverance to ever get noticed. You just gotta keep going and going. You will only fail if you stop. It can take years and years to get even noticed just a bit. But do you think it'll be worth the wait? If not, well, you better stop now.

You must be swift as the coursing river, have all the force of a great typhoon and the strength of the raging fire, possibly be mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

I also think I've used this joke before, but who cares #YOLO

It takes talent, luck, hard work (both in video making and promotion) and patience. If your content is good enough and you keep at it you'll get there!
