While you do have to remain strong when you put your videos on the internet, means comments, especially ones that both hurt/attack, yet criticise properly, so you can't just call them out on being stupid, really dig deep. You could have a video that a lot of people like, yet that one comment will stick with you.

I put a video on reddit (I know, playing with fire), and the top upvoted comment was a fairly attacking critique ('he's super annoying,' 'every joke is flat'). Because its upvoted.. I felt the pain a bit harder.

SO how do you deal with the bad comments? Even they are legitimate critiques, just in a mean spirit?

Technically ignore them if they're not constructive. But if they ARE constructive, you should take the advice to heart and learn from them. My channel success now is due to mean critique in the past. :D
 
well i asked people on a vid what they look for in a channel and i was immedietly attacked: obviously cowards behind there screens, anyway a few made jokes which to be fair where funny yet when i make one back all of a sudden im the nasty one i literally dont get it
 
Accept that they are part of the space. When you put yourself out there, you are going to get hate. The sooner you don't let it bother you, the better.
 
I understand that it's just their opinion. I ask myself if they have a videos themselves since they are seeming like quite expert (which they probably don't) or if they even have a picture of themselves (which 90% of the time they don't). If you're getting hate that means you must be getting views, you're getting them to interact, and you're literally getting them to promote your video essentially! So just keep doing your thing and look at it on the bright side! The bigger you become as a YouTuber or any job in the public the more these "experts" at what you do surface! :)
 
I have stopped replying to those comments for the most part. I try to answer all my new comments once a week. I stopped responding to the ones that say first , second, etc... and the ones that are mean in spirit.
The majority of comments left on my channel are kind comments, or questions.

Only gotten one really malicious comment so far. Not constructive criticism at all, just someone attacking me as a person with a really weird sense of elitism. I just responded with "k". The comment has since been marked as spam (not by me, mind you) and doesn't show up anymore unless I do something about it, which I really don't care enough.

So yeah, probably best to just ignore them if there's nothing constructive.
 
Comments that don't add to the content of my video are deleted. I dont delete them because I'm offended, just other viewers don't want to read crap.
 
Been wished dead on a few occasions; people are easily motivated to write this vile nonsense to strangers. I haven't in 16 years online. Doesn't matter who it is!
