I've Got It
Hi,

I have been studying on this forum and I think this forum is a gold mine. How important is having a website linking to your youtube?

If you're trying to get a lot of views and people coming to your channel to possibly subscribe then having a link to your YouTube with definitely help. I put that link on everything

I wouldn't say it's the number one way to get viewers but it's definitely up that list. I'm not professional or anything so don't take my word for this, but everyone will definitely say that you should try linking your channel to some media.

Thanks for your suggestion. Do you think outbound link from your channel to your website is a bad practice? Would Youtube SEO algorithm penalize your for an outbound link?

I think a website is a great idea. You could get a better placement in google search than on youtube search for some less popular keywords. And if you keep at it the website can be another source of revenue itself.

But theres so many things you have to do for youtube already you might not have the time. So its a great idea if you have the time, manpower, or resources. Or youre probably better off building your channel first. Unless you have time to do everything.

I have 3 Wordpress sites that I made myself specifically for posting vids to. They aren't that complex to create and do not cost alot. You can download themes templates for video based websites and once you start building up a library of videos on your page I can only assume that you will start bringing in new viewers to your channel through google search.

This also gives the added advantage of being able to post your video to facebook through your website post rather than using a youtube link. Something that has worked well for me with FB. It's still throttled like a youtube link would be but a bit more successful at times in gaining views.
