I see alot of people struggling with their small channels and feeling like wanting to quit youtube, i can't say ive been strugling since is only my second week on youtube. But i can see youtube is a tough long highway , so if anyone has any succes story that want to share and if anyone feeling like want to quit , don't do it you got to realise there will be some good days and there will be some bad days .Just hold on for those good days and continue making what you like :)[DOUBLEPOST=1452193364,1452193267][/DOUBLEPOST]also is it true that your first 100 subscribers are the hardest to get or it is only a youtube myth :p

100 subs is defiantly the hardest to get.

Not a success story or anything but i started a YouTube channel 3/4 years ago and quit after 4 months. I lost all passwords etc and have not even look at the channel in a long time. Today I was looking for somebody i had made friends with via my old YouTube channel so went back and released that some of my videos had actually got alot of views. One video had even hit 20k. Now for some people thats nothing but 20k views for me is something big!

I recently started youtube again and after seeing this it gives me hope that people will view my new videos!

First 100 subscribers hardest to get for sure. After that, it's somewhat of a snowball effect. I'm a fairly new channel, having started in October, and it was a struggle to start with, but as my stats below show, I've done OK in the few months since then.

To prove the 'first 100 subs the hardest' notion, here's how many days it took me to get each milestone:

100: 22nd November (+40 days)
200: 10th December (+18 days)
300: 22nd December (+12 days)
400: 29th December (+7 days)
500: 31st December (+2 days)
600: 1st January (+1 day)
700: 2nd January (+1 day)
800: 4th January (+2 days)

Slowed down a bit now, but it went crazy over Christmas as you can see! Once you get the ball rolling with good content, things do happen though. Good luck!

I'd say the 100 sub thing is a myth. I hit 100 a while back and I'm still under 1,000.

For many years I've bounced back and forth between being super stoked about youtubin' and being super bummed about it. I think this has really held me back from being successful within the community... So in other words I agree fully - it's a lot more beneficial to keep with it and keep consistent, then to give up and be all flip-floppy about it.

I really respect those folks who can keep excited about the medium over many years.

well i can say that consistency is the key :D

I only remember hitting 500 because my subs went crazy for about a week, and by the time i had uploaded the thanks for 500 subs video, i had hit 600 subs, and i only uploaded it a couple of days later. I wish I could grow that fast now but I have never made a video that popular since. This was over a year ago but i gained 700 subs in about 2 weeks it was incredible

100 was not an easy number to get, and when I did get it, it was an amazing day XD But it also didn't help that by that time I had already had to take 2 breaks from YT because of electronic issues... But yeah, it is not easy...

I struggled for nearly a year, back in 2014. I got very much demotivated to do anything with my channel, plus i went on deployment so that didnt help, but i took nearly a 1 year hiatus from youtube. I dont think in that whole year of making videos did i get to 100 subs.
Since then i've rebooted my channel, as of a few weeks ago, and i think im back up to, if not above what i had in subscribers and view counts are also higher. Granted, i still havent hit 100, but im getting there. Slowly but surely i will make this hobby of mine into something awesome. What i've learned is that its kind of a dog eat dog life on youtube, and its really, really hard to get ahead. But hard work, good content, and determination will prove worth it in the long run.
So, good luck, have fun and may the games begin!
