Suggested Recording Software?

I'm currently using MSI Afterburner's recording function and by all means it seems to get the job done. I'm just wondering if there's a better, free, recording software out there that others would choose over MSI? Any thoughts?

If you want to record your pc's screen try dxtory. You can change anything and everything and it's free. You may be confused or set the wrong thing if you don't know what all the settings affect though
 
For gaming videos... you should get Fraps. It's only $40 dollars and it records in high quality with no lag. The only problem is that the files are huge. For a free alternative.. try OBS. It is mainly used for streaming but recording is fine. :)
 
Well, I'm really only looking for free alternatives. Like I said, MSI afterburner's recording function is doing the job well, so I really have my doubts that fraps would be providing me with $40 worth of better features than afterburner gives me.
